FIC Neo 1973 and T2/Linux
The ARM based, mostly open mobile phone platform from FIC.
The Neo 1973 ATA01 comes with a Samsung SoC, TI GSM modem
and GPS chip, including:
- Samsung S3C2410AL-26 (running at up to 266 MHz)
- 128MB SDRAM
- 64MB NAND flash
- 2.8" (1.7" x 2.27") 480x640 TFT LCD
- Texas Instruments Calypso based GSM/GPRS modem
- Hammerhead PMB 2520 AGPS from Global Locate AGPS
- Delta DFBM-CS320 Class2 Bluetooth
- microSD-Card
- USB (just 1.x) - host and device
- WM8753 Wolfson Microelectronics audio codec
- ++ some other chips and pieces along the lines
Notes
The TI Calypso GSM modem appears to have problems with latest
SIM cards.
Apparently the schematics appear to be closed, as are the
GSM modem and the GPS chip. While the GSM modem is controlled
via regular AT commands, the GPS chip can (at the time of writing)
not be used with open source software.
The current software stacks does not yet perform optimal
power management, resulting in battery life of less than one
day - even if the phone is turned off but the batter is left in
the device.
