10:32 < michael-i> hello rxr, I'm looking at the blackfin toolchain releases here: http://blackfin.uclinux.org/gf/project/toolchain/frs/?action=FrsReleaseView&release_id=392
10:33 < michael-i> what a load of options...
10:36 < michael-i> the problem with using analog device's svn is that it delivers about 8kbps and I wanted to use a release if possible
10:52 < rxr> i think at the time I added it there where not so many releases and quite broken
10:52 < rxr> with the svn checkout I could pick a working version and also interim update
10:53 < michael-i> i also like using svn stable branches but their speed makes checking out really really frustrating. gcc co == overnight wait
10:53 < rxr> hm - I think it's faster here
10:53 < rxr> I think I can checkout in 30m
10:53 < michael-i> lucky!
10:53 < michael-i> ...or North America isn't awake yet
10:54 < rxr> yeah
11:00 < CIA-41> rene * r32660 /trunk/package/audio/snd/snd.desc: * updated snd (10.3 -> 10.4)

11:06 < michael-i> I'm currently working on php4 on blackfin but is there anything I can do to help with the toolchain?

18:42 < the_rainbow> Hello everybody
18:43 < koan> hi
18:43 < the_rainbow> I've just installed the T2 binary version, it doesn't boot to gnome or KDE, how can I install them from the shell I have an internet connection
18:45 < koan> the_rainbow: T2 is not a distribution like ubuntu, it's more like gentoo or arch linux, you have to build and configure it yourself beginning with the core system
18:46 < koan> which version of T2 have you downloaded?
18:46 -!- the_rainbow [i=ee@41.209.167.133] has quit [Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer)]
18:47 -!- the_rainbow [i=ee@41.209.167.133] has joined #t2
18:47 < the_rainbow> I'm back
18:47 < koan> which version of T2 have you downloaded?
18:47 < the_rainbow> the latest one
18:47 < koan> the minimal version or a version with X.org?
18:48 < koan> or the live cd?
18:49 < the_rainbow> 7.0-rc2, there are only minimal versios on the download server: ftp://ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/t2/stable/7.0-rc2/
18:51 < koan> well, then you have to download the t2-7.0 branch with svn co (like on http://www.t2-project.org/download/) and after that you can build X.org and the applications you need, you can read the documentation on the website
18:51 < koan> how did you find T2?
18:52 < the_rainbow> a friend of mine told me about it, I'm so excited to use it
18:52 < michael-i> time to head home...binutils, uclibc and gcc are updated for blackfin...none working but they're updated ;) more tomorrow
18:52 < michael-i> bye everyone
18:53 < the_rainbow> but, I have the minimal version installed, how can I build the packages from the T2 repo from my bash?
18:53 -!- michael-i [n=michael-@141.41.40.181] has quit []
18:53 < the_rainbow> isn't there some apt-get or yum like tool to do so?
18:53 < koan> T2 is a source-based distribution
18:53 < the_rainbow> I know
18:54 < koan> if you have downloaded the scripts, you can build and install a package with ./scripts/Emerge-Pkg packagename
18:55 < koan> the 7.0 scripts can be downloaded with svn co https://svn.exactcode.de/t2/branches/7.0 t2-7.0
18:55 < the_rainbow> what about final users? Do they have to do that?
18:56 < koan> yes, but T2 obviously is not suitable for every Linux user
18:56 < koan> it's fine if you know your way into Linux and you want full control
19:00 < the_rainbow> ah okay thanks
19:00 < the_rainbow> because I want to develop a desktop distribution based on T2
19:01 < koan> that's perfectly possible, Puppy Linux is based on T2
19:02 < koan> you should ask rxr some questions then, he is T2's lead developer
19:05 < the_rainbow> thanks very much man
