07:54 < tri> hi
08:39 < rxr> rehi
08:39 < rxr> moin
08:42 < CIA-9> susan * r24058 /trunk/package/x86/powertop/powertop.desc: * updated powertop (1.0 -> 1.1)
08:43 < CIA-9> susan * r24059 /trunk/package/perl/perl-mailtools/perl-mailtools.desc: * updated perl-mailtools (1.76 -> 1.77)
08:43 < tri> there is no ati driver package in t2, right ?
08:44 < rxr> no, the rpm is so ugly to extract IIRC
08:44 < rxr> we probably should have it nothelesss
08:45 < tri> nothelesss ?
08:45 < rxr> -s
08:45 < rxr> err
08:45 < rxr> nontheless :-)
08:47 < tri> nonetheless ;-)
08:49 < tri> i have allready installed my own build t2 - was quite easy
08:50 < tri> but i have a problem to start X - it says something about a not founded module called pcidata ?
08:50 < tri> but i haven't added this module to my xorg.conf
08:51 < rxr> can you place the whole x log somewhere ?
08:51 < tri> yes, uno momento
08:52 < CIA-9> rene * r24060 /trunk/package/mail/postfix/postfix.desc: * updated postfix (2.4.0 -> 2.4.1)
08:58 < tri> http://rafb.net/p/srxsnR18.html
09:01 < tri> http://imi.st/Xorg.0.log
09:01 < rxr> very interesting
09:01 < rxr> never saw something like that
09:01 < rxr> what T2 flavour did you build ?
09:02 < tri> hm minmal xorg
09:02 < tri> or so
09:03 < CIA-9> rene * r24061 /trunk/package/x86/powertop/powertop.desc: * improved powertop Author tag
09:03 < tri> generic - minimal xorg
09:03 < tri> 7.0-trunk
09:07 < tri> ah but it must be my xorg.conf
09:07 < tri> without my xorg.conf x is starting
09:08 < rxr> aha
09:08 < rxr> did you use a xorg from another, older linux distribution?
09:09 < tri> hm yes and no it is my normal xorg config but from a "brand new" archlinux
09:10 < rxr> does X start after you run xcfgt2 and then start X again ?
09:10 < tri> omedays nobody would need a xorg.conf and x will do it all for you
09:11 < rxr> yeah
09:11 < rxr> for some chips we are already there .-)
09:16 < tri> xcfgt2: ddcprobe: command not found
09:16 < tri> can i emerge package parallel ?
09:19 < tri> hm damm battery empty... and the charger is at home :(
09:19 < tri> i like mondays
09:20 < rxr> ddcprobe should be optional
09:20 < rxr> Emerge can run in parallel
09:21 < rxr> however the Config currently can not, 2 Config runs can mess up the config
09:21 < rxr> we should probably lock the config while changed
09:21 < tri> for my t2 build i named the config "system"
09:22 < tri> like it says at the howto
09:22 < tri> but now i always have to "-cfg system" if i have named it default it would be better ?
09:24 < rxr> if you only have one, yes
09:26 < tri> i build t2 on my old system and then installed t2 from the builed iso one this system. i then copyed the t2-trunk dir from the usbdisk to /usr/src/t2/ - is this a good choose or what is the "right way" ?
09:30 < rxr> sounds good
09:36 < CIA-9> rene * r24062 /trunk/package/xorg/libsm/libsm.desc: * updated libsm (1.0.2 -> 1.0.3)

09:56 < write_erase> hi
09:57 < rxr> hi write_erase
09:58 < tri> hi write_erase
10:17 < CIA-9> rene * r24063 /trunk/package/x86/powertop/ (powertop.conf powertop.desc):
10:17 < CIA-9> * fixed powertop cross install code, as the 1.1 package supports DESTDIR
10:17 < CIA-9> * do not build it in stage 1 by default, marked it CROSS instead
10:24 < CIA-9> rene * r24064 /trunk/target/desktop/rootfs/home/live/.kde/Autostart/ (knetconf.desktop netconf.desktop): * knetconf was renamed just netconf
10:39 < write_erase> rxr, This would be nice on avr32 http://maemo.org/development/documentation/tutorials/Maemo_tutorial_bora.html
10:55 < rxr> meamo sucks majorly
10:56 < rxr> we have several people who run away screaming from maemo and use T2 for their embedded devices, now
11:02 < write_erase> I don't care about the building system from maemo... But the result is nice ...I'd like to have some UI like that on T2
11:09 < tri> maybe it is possible to create nice ui things they e for maemo ?
11:09 < tri> ^/they/with
11:14 < rxr> one could package those source tarballs for t2
11:14 < rxr> e17 also gives nice guis
11:15 < write_erase> yes ... porting the sources to T2 would be nice... I'd like to have more time for that
11:15 < write_erase> http://openmoko.org/
11:15 < write_erase> I like that
11:27 < rxr> openembedded is no joy to use ...
11:30 < rxr> aside from that as many new packages, that best cross compile, for T2 are always more than welcome
11:33 < write_erase> As soon as I receive my LCD screen, and my T2 AVR32 base system is done, I'll start working on porting some UI to T2....
11:56 < tri> bye

16:27 < tri> re
16:30 < tri> i cant build firefox
16:30 < tri> btw. pango
16:31 < tri> error log says: checking for glib no
16:31 < tri> glib 2.12 or better is required
16:31 < rxr> which target?
16:31 < tri> but glib is already installed
16:32 < tri> a generic
16:32 < tri> minimal-xorg
16:32 < rxr> is that the first error you get ?
16:32 < tri> yes it says: checking for cairo_ft_scaled_font_lock_fac in -lcairo... yes
16:33 < tri> checking for cairo_ft_create_for_atsu_font_id in -lcairo... no
16:33 < tri> configure: error:
16:33 < tri> and then *** glib 2.12.0 or better ... blabla
16:34 < tri> how to enabling xtrace ?
16:38 < rxr> in the Config
16:38 < rxr> but xtrace does not help for this, xtrace only helps with T2 related scripts
16:38 < rxr> you could take a look into the packages's config.log to see what's up
16:39 < tri> where to find this file
16:41 < tri> ah i found it
16:42 < tri> f77 command not found - may this be the error ?
16:44 < rxr> nope
16:45 < rxr> most autoconf scripts check for f77 for the fun of it
16:45 < rxr> it's just an warning or so
16:45 < rxr> the file's in src.$pkg.$id/$srcdir/config.log
16:45 < rxr> that's the log those configure scritps create, usually
16:46 < tri> hm glib is not found by pkg-config
16:46 < tri> a pkg-confg --list-all
16:46 < tri> does not include the glib
16:47 < tri> and the logfile says no package glib-2.0 found perhaps zou should add the directorz containing glib-2.0.pc
16:52 < sepp> glib enabled?
16:52 < sepp> not glibc!
17:02 < CIA-9> rene * r24068 /trunk/package/base/binutils/binutils.desc:
17:02 < CIA-9> * reverted 24044: downdated binutils (2.17.50.0.16 -> 2.17.50.0.15),
17:02 < CIA-9> as it segfaults linking mesa, ...
17:05 < rxr> sepp: you know our worldmap and that frappr with flash sucks ?
17:07 < sepp> i thought that was googlemaps javascript stuff
17:08 < rxr> yes, until yahoo! brought them
17:08 < rxr> the admin stuff is now flash
17:08 < tri> zes glib enabled
17:08 < rxr> and the html map does not work correctly anymore
17:08 < sepp> btw i am still for lmj's website thingy, looks better and the server will not implode because of php
17:08 < rxr> only half of our pins from the flash map show up
17:09 < rxr> I started to craft an own now
17:09 < rxr> http://www.t2-project.org/startpage/index3.html
17:09 < rxr> just for testing
17:09 < rxr> add php/lua script not there yet
17:09 < rxr> but this way we can map all svn writers and mailing list people to the map :-)
17:10 < rxr> test map using asynchron loaded xml data is here:
17:10 < rxr> http://www.t2-project.org/startpage/index2.html
17:11 < rxr> of course we can control the pin look completely
17:11 < rxr> it does not need ot be those boring pins
17:12 < rxr> sepp: you mean you want to go LMJ's homepage including the php system behind?
17:12 < sepp> as default, the joomla or whatever it was thingy
17:13 < rxr> just due to his artwork or the whole joomla CMS?
17:14 < sepp> looks better
17:16 < sepp> serveur.email.free.fr
17:17 < rxr> yep
17:18 < rxr> yeah - just that after our exactcode site went Typo3 I never ever wanted PHP code on our servers ...
17:18 < rxr> http://www.exactcode.de/
17:18 < tri> i think both are nice
17:19 < rxr> if you do not care what CMS is behind I would rather rip out the serveur makeup graphis and stick a "saner" non-PHP(nor-Perl) CMS behind it :-)
17:21 < tri> where is the glib.pc located "normaly" ?
17:22 < sepp> sure, i dont care what is running behind the scenes
17:22 < sepp> :)
17:23 < sepp> grep GNOME2 config/.../config
17:23 < rxr> tri: grep glib.pc build/default-7.0-trunk-reference-x86-athlon-xp/var/adm/flists/*
17:23 < rxr> build/default-7.0-trunk-reference-x86-athlon-xp/var/adm/flists/glib12:glib12: opt/gnome/lib/pkgconfig/glib.pc
17:24 < tri> hm there isnt any glib.pc but glib 2.12.12 was builded succesfully
17:25 < tri> do i also need glib12 ?
17:25 < sepp> not for firefox
17:25 < sepp> only for a few old programs
17:26 < tri> for pango ?
17:26 < tri> pango is needed by firefox - i think
17:26 < tri> is there a glib.pc "installed" if i just build glib2.12...
17:27 < sepp> yes
17:28 < sepp> less build/.../var/adm/flists/glib ;)
17:29 < sepp> you need atk,pango,glib,gtk+
17:29 < sepp> and cairo
17:31 < tri> there is only .../var/adm/flists/glib but emerg-pkg says finished building package glib
17:32 < rxr> Emerge does install into the system
17:32 < rxr> do you talk about a target build here?
17:33 < rxr> to build glib in the target: Build-Target ... -job 5-glib
17:33 < sepp> have to run away, cu ...
17:33 < tri> no i want to install it into the system
17:33 < tri> cu sepp
17:34 < rxr> ok, into the system Emerge-Pkg is right (tm)
17:34 < rxr> grep # grep glib.pc /var/adm/flists/*
17:34 < rxr> /var/adm/flists/taglib:taglib: usr/lib64/pkgconfig/taglib.pc
17:36 < tri> ah ok lib/pkgconfig/glib.pc
17:36 < rxr> it'ss there ?
17:36 < tri> so glib is installed right
17:36 < rxr> ok, lib/pkgconfig that's evil
17:36 < tri> sorry ...
17:36 < tri> i was searching in build/.../var/adm ...
17:37 < tri> i'm new to t2 - ups
17:37 -!- write_erase [n=olivier@81.80.156.36] has quit ["Leaving"]
17:37 < tri> hm but if i run pkg-config --list-all grep glib* only glitz is found ?
17:38 < rxr> yes, this is because /lib/pkgconfig is not in the default search list
17:38 < rxr> and the file should not be there
17:38 < rxr> This happend because the T2 config is not smart enough
17:38 < rxr> you have not selected glib at Config time
17:38 < rxr> so the PKG_GNOME_PREFIX variable is not set
17:39 < tri> ah ok
17:39 < rxr> and the prefix for Emerge glib is empty
17:39 < rxr> then glib and all gnome stuff is installed into /
17:39 < rxr> instead of /usr or /opt/gnome2
17:39 < tri> hm ok
17:39 < rxr> we should guard this Config prefix better
17:39 < tri> when was "config time"
17:39 < rxr> that is to fallback to /usr instead of "" if the package is not selected
17:39 < rxr> well - your current config
17:40 < tri> there http://t2-project.org/documentation/buildintro.html
17:40 < rxr> it's best to de-install the misinstalled packages now and select glib and re-Emerge those, like glib
17:40 < rxr> what does this yield :
17:40 < rxr> grep ' lib/pkgconfig' /var/adm/flists/*
17:41 < tri> hm nearly 10 entrys with lib/pkgconfig/(glib/gmodule/gobject/gthread)
17:42 < tri> but i can also rebuild my system it doesnt matter
17:42 < rxr> grep ' lib/pkgconfig' /var/adm/flists/ | | cut -d : -f 2
17:42 < rxr> no need to re-build all
17:42 < rxr> just clean the 3 packages up
17:42 < rxr> select the package and re-emerge it
17:43 < rxr> the cut above should yield the package names
17:43 < tri> who do i have to set the PKG_GNOME_PREFIX - in the config menu or by hand ?
17:43 < rxr> mine -rf pkg1 pkg2 pkg3 will deinstall them
17:43 < rxr> you need to enable the main package of a category
17:43 < rxr> for gnome2 it's glib
17:43 < rxr> so add X glib to your package selection
17:44 < rxr> the option will become available than, and default to opt/gnome2
17:44 < rxr> only if you do not like that value you need to adjust the config option then
17:44 < tri> ah i have a opt/e17 already
17:44 < tri> thats ok
17:44 < rxr> but the important thing is to enable glib
17:44 < rxr> and yes, I know this sucks
17:44 < tri> ;-)
17:44 < rxr> we need a generic mechanism for this prefix selection and prevent packages to be installed into prefix == "" if the packag eis not yet selected
17:45 < tri> how about the emerg-pkg --repository flag is it working ?
17:46 < rxr> sure, it will emerge all packages of the repositoy
17:46 < rxr> , those selected in the current config
17:50 < tri> ok i'm no at the build config how to select the X glib and the e17 packages ?
17:50 < rxr> select expert options
17:50 < rxr> select custom package selections
17:50 < rxr> add the rules:
17:50 < rxr> X gnome2/*
17:50 < rxr> X e17/*
17:53 < tri> if i select custom package selections i only have "001: add new rule"
17:53 < tri> but i can see the current package list
17:53 < tri> and there are the gnome 2 package options
17:55 < tri> if i choose mimi package selection xorg and basic desktop i dont have this err
17:55 < tri> ?
17:59 < LMJ> moin moin
17:59 < tri> hi LMJ
17:59 < LMJ> hello tri
18:03 < tri> ah there it is gnome 2 package options - opt/gnome2 - install prefix
18:03 < tri> thx rxr
18:04 < rxr> hi LMJ
18:04 < LMJ> hello rxr
18:05 < rxr> LMJ: we just have this new-website topic yet again :-)
18:05 < rxr> sepp: likes your design :-)
18:05 < tri> can or should i choose "cups as standard printer"
18:05 < LMJ> ::smack:: to sepp ;)
18:05 < tri> LMJ: i like it too :-)
18:07 < LMJ> thanks ;)
18:07 < LMJ> anyway, fire when ready
18:08 < LMJ> if you want to work on it, i can get some free time to adjust the CMS
18:08 < LMJ> if not, no problem ;)
18:08 < LMJ> when 7.0 will be released ? we could include that as a dead line for the website too
18:09 < rxr> I
18:09 < LMJ> ||
18:09 < rxr> 'm really not sure if I want to have joomla --typos running on any of my server ...
18:10 < rxr> can you propose anything else beside it?
18:10 < rxr> I mean, we also would have to write some package matrix generator for the CMS we choose, generating this part dynamically from our sourece:
18:10 < rxr> http://www.t2-project.org/packages/
18:11 < LMJ> yes
18:11 < LMJ> you can keep it outside of the CMS, doesn't need to be included inside the CMS if it's too much work
18:12 < rxr> well of course those pages should look exactly as the ones out of the CMS
18:12 < LMJ> typo3 is not bad, we can use it, but i only used it a couple of hours 2 years ago
18:12 < rxr> well - I
18:12 < rxr> 'm neither a typo3 fan
18:13 < LMJ> hehe
18:13 < rxr> we did our new homepage with it, and oh well ...
18:13 < rxr> http://www.exactcode.de/
18:13 < LMJ> yes, i've checked it out
18:13 < tri> the e project is also updating there website but they only use plain php and cvs as "cms" : http://web.enlightenment.org/
18:16 < LMJ> i think Joomla is one of the best option for a website like T2, especially with the options I added, the target is to get a little community of users, online help via tutorials & howto (cf Wiki) and discutions in the Forum
18:16 < LMJ> but if you feel better a website from scratch written in PHP, why now, depends of your experience
18:17 < rxr> did I mention i'm not exactly a PHP fan, .oO
18:17 < LMJ> indeed
18:17 < LMJ> :-P
18:17 < rxr> :-)
18:17 < LMJ> Zope & Typo3 are python powered ? ;)
18:18 < rxr> maybe we import your artwork into the current site, to migrate the lock'n feel smoothly
18:18 < tri> only zope is python powered
18:18 < rxr> and continue thinking which ueber CMS to use in the future :-)
18:19 < LMJ> I forgot what else
18:19 < LMJ> if we use one ;)
18:19 < tri> have you two allready a look at django ?
18:20 < rxr> this was proposed to me by other t2 users in private: http://wiki.splitbrain.org/
18:20 < rxr> but php, likewise
18:20 < LMJ> that's dokuwiki
18:20 < rxr> thing is I neither like Python, Perl or PHP
18:20 < rxr> if I have to touch it it would rather have to be Ruby or Lua ...
18:21 < LMJ> hehehe
18:21 < LMJ> dude

18:25 < LMJ> rxr : you have to see the website on the user side not like the advanced coder. Think about the atmosphere, the functionnalities and the capacity to catch new T2 fans, the hability to improve your project. You will not sell your soul to the devil if you have a website running PHP... It should not balance so much your choice, or at least, in a second time, not like a critical measure, be sure of that.
18:26 < rxr> but I'll seel my soul to the devil if people break into the T2-www VM every second week ...
18:26 < rxr> sell even
18:27 < LMJ> install mod_security on Apache
18:27 < LMJ> will fix a big part of the php troubles
18:28 < rxr> yeah, ...
18:29 < rxr> a frontside mod_proxy cache we also already have (due to typo3 slowlyness :-)
18:29 < rxr> well - maybe take a fres new look, ike yours and stick it over the current clean plain text files
18:30 < rxr> and just then migrate the side to a CMS when we had some more weeks to think about it ?
18:30 < LMJ> ok
18:30 < LMJ> did you check the UI back-end ?
18:31 < rxr> you mean the UI backend to edit your side ?
18:32 < LMJ> I meant the joomla backend, to edit or create articles
18:32 < rxr> yes I logged in and dived thru it a bit
18:32 < rxr> but it's like 5 weeks ago
18:33 < LMJ> good, just to know how it looks
18:33 < LMJ> mod_proxy increase performances ?
18:33 < rxr> with caching enables yes
18:35 < LMJ> how about ? +20% faster ? +50% ?
18:35 < rxr> did not meassure
18:35 < rxr> but from "pain to view" to "reasonable" for exactcode.de
18:38 < tri> http://www.djangobook.com/en/beta/chapter20/ ;-)
18:42 < LMJ> well, i need help with transcode, convert DV to a bunch of TIF or TGA, don't you know that, do you ? ;)
