12:56 < mjungwirth> hi
12:57 < mjungwirth> i would cross-compile gnome2/glib package. Now my problem is he can't find pkg-config.
12:57 < mjungwirth> So i add one line to glib.conf file
12:57 < mjungwirth> export PKG_CONFIG="$(pkgprefix bindir pkgconfig)/pkg-config"
12:58 < mjungwirth> But PKG_CONFIG contains PKGPREFIX_ERROR/pkg-config
12:58 < mjungwirth> pkgprefix: package pkgconfig is not present
12:58 < mjungwirth> but pkgconfig is build successfully!
12:59 < mjungwirth> what can i do?
13:01 < mjungwirth> must be pkg-config installed on my build-system?
13:11 < rxr> I think so
13:11 < rxr> IIRC glib cross built fine some months ago, hope it did not got broken
13:12 < rxr> (by any recent update)
13:13 < mjungwirth> i check this now
13:48 < mjungwirth> ok glib runs fine.
13:50 < rxr> with pkgconfig in the host ?
14:05 < mjungwirth> yes
15:52 < mjungwirth> so no i can cross-compile mc (not mc-mp) but without slang.
15:52 < mjungwirth> i can cross-compile slang but mc(configure) can't find it. i set the include/lib directory but he says not found.
15:52 < mjungwirth> now i set in the configure "mc use only ncurses". and it runs.
16:00 < rxr> patches welcome
16:02 < mjungwirth> ok
16:26 < CIA-40> rene * r38572 /trunk/package/shells/mc/ (mc.conf mc.desc):
16:26 < CIA-40> Mario Jungwirth :
16:26 < CIA-40> * tweaked mc to cross compile

16:27 < CIA-40> * updated xorg-server (1.9.2 -> 1.9.3)
18:50 < rogermas`> rxr: following up on lvm/cryptsetup. It all works fine using the /dev/mapper entries, so maybe it _is_ udev issue.
18:50 < rxr> :-(
18:51 < rxr> or at least good to know, so we can fix
18:51 < rogermas`> quite
18:51 < rxr> guess it would affect not only crypto, but any LVM setup, even without crypto, as probably device mappper entries are not created in any case -- I would guess
18:55 < rogermas`> yes, it is certainly an issue for lvm: I set up a non-encrypted volume group on the same machine and had the same problem. The /dev//* entries _were_ created during lvm setup so the fact that they went awol points to udev. I don't know how udev works.
19:04 < rxr> complex mess, ...
19:24 < rogermas`> As I was doing this yesterday I found it a problem that cryptsetup is in /usr/sbin with libraries in /usr/lib. I wanted to have /usr on a (unencrypted) lvm volume. However, because cryptsetup must run before lvm to support encrypted volumes, there is a problem. It is working now only because I mount an lvm volume over a complete /usr tree. If crytsetup was in /sbin and libraries in /lib there would be no problem.
19:24 < rxr> we could change it's package's default prefix
19:25 < rogermas`> I think that would be a good idea.
19:26 < rogermas`> I messed around with /etc/init.d/system too in order to get cryptsetup to run before vgcreate. I can send a patch if it would be of any interest.
19:27 < rxr> well, I'm not (yet) using it, so changes like this will probably applied verbatim, if they look reasonable, ..
19:28 < rxr> ok, changing the cryptsetup prefix just so does not work straight away, due $datadir i18n files etc.
19:28 < rxr> !> Created file outside allowed top-level dir: share/locale/vi/LC_MESSAGES/cryptsetup.mo
19:28 < rxr> == 01/26/11 19:27:45 =[5]=> Aborted building package cryptsetup.
19:29 < rogermas`> darn.
19:29 < rxr> further tweaking / patching is of course possible :_)
19:46 < rogermas`> OK. It is on my diary.
