11:56 < koan> hm why can't I set up dhclient as a service in stone?
11:56 < mpp> cause it's broke
11:56 < mpp> try dhcpcd tag instead
11:56 < mpp> :-)
11:57 < koan> if I start dhclient manually, it works
11:58 < mpp> i know it's probably messy rocknet stuff
11:59 < koan> and if I set dhcpcd in /etc/conf/network the script complains about "Unknown statement in config file: dhcpcd"
12:02 < koan> ok that was because dhcpcd wasn't installed
12:02 < CIA-13> mtr * r31078 /trunk/package/base/uclibc/uclibc.conf: * fix uClibc build with enabled locale
12:02 < CIA-13> mtr * r31079 /trunk/package/base/uclibc/uclibc.desc: * updated uclibc (0.9.30-rc2 -> 0.9.30-rc3)
12:05 < mpp> right
12:12 < koan> hm shouldn't dhcpcd be installed by default then? or did you already have a working dhcp-based network connection right after installation of T2?
12:13 < mpp> dhcpcd has to be installed / packaged explicitly
12:14 < mpp> as always - you should be having you own targets which fit you needs / are fixed to work for you
12:15 -!- soopurman [n=soopurma@75-1-216-170.lightspeed.snantx.sbcglobal.net] has quit [Read error: 60 (Operation timed out)]
12:15 < koan> yes I think I should define my own target for future installations

17:31 < koan> why does T2 download an ubuntu version of the bcm43xx firmware?
18:54 < rxr> gues sthe only location we found it for download ...
18:59 < rxr> koan: in your slim path patch the default_xserver does not look like the path used by t2 by default
18:59 < rxr> -default_xserver /usr/bin/X
18:59 < rxr> +default_xserver /usr/bin/X11/X
18:59 < rxr> ok - ok
18:59 < rxr> ic
18:59 < rxr> we have some compat symlink I never noticed
18:59 < rxr> but I think /usr/X11/bin/X should be better
19:01 < rxr> i'll adapt on apply
19:02 -!- soopurman [n=soopurma@75-1-216-170.lightspeed.snantx.sbcglobal.net] has left #t2 ["Leaving"]
19:07 < koan> ah ok
19:07 < koan> didn't notice it was a symlink
19:07 < rxr> and for the pathes it's best to query pkg-config
19:07 < rxr> that's universal in any way
19:08 < koan> hm ok I'll take a look at pkg-config
19:08 < rxr> (koan: and I didn't noticed we have this symlink probably since the roots of the T2 sources .-)
19:08 < koan> :-)
19:08 < rxr> pkg-config xft freetype2 xrender fontconfig libpng x11 xmu --libs
19:08 < rxr> I test build and just commit it :-)
19:09 < rxr> we use /usr/X11 intentionally
19:09 < rxr> that is X11R7 with symlink to X11, most still prefer the historic seperation, most "modern" distributions just place everything in /usr/{bin,lib}
19:09 < rxr> most here fint this a little "messy"
19:09 < rxr> that's the reason for still sticking to /usr/X11...
19:10 < koan> ok
19:10 < rxr> (which can of course be done differently in a target)
19:10 < koan> and what with the lib64 path?
19:10 < koan> that's where pkg-config comes in?
19:10 < rxr> pkg-config will return it
19:10 < koan> ok
19:11 < rxr> in T2 .conf you could use the $libdir variable
19:11 < rxr> but the best fix is alwasy to set it up in a way that is a) the most obvious and b) can be sent upstream
19:12 < koan> ok, I'll try to do it that way for the next package :)
19:12 < rxr> no problem - just want to keep you informed .-)
19:12 < koan> btw I think the bcm43xx firmware is depcrecated since kernel version 2.6.25 or so
19:13 < rxr> aha
19:13 < rxr> did not notive
19:13 < CIA-13> rene * r31080 /trunk/package/x11/slim/ (. paths.patch slim.cache slim.desc):
19:13 < CIA-13> Koen Vervloesem :
19:13 < CIA-13> * added slim (1.3.1) - A simple desktop-independent graphical login manager for X11
19:13 < rxr> maybe I should get myself one of the last 12" powerbooks to test it :-)
19:13 < koan> I'll try the new firmware and driver one of the next days on my laptop
19:14 < rxr> strange that the firmware changed, thought it was dumped from some windows driver anyway
19:15 < koan> according to http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/b43 there are different versions of the firmware and drivers, and not all combinations work
19:15 < koan> I have only skimmed that page, but I'll delve into it soon
19:16 < koan> but with the bcm43xx which is in T2 trunk I didn't get it working
19:16 < rxr> ok - looking forward to the patch
19:16 < rxr> slim with my modifications was tested on ppc32
19:17 < rxr> ok - cu later
