09:13 < mpp> hey rxr - hey mtr
09:27 < mpp> if you find time rxr - maybe you could insert my contribs to the svn - except the minit udev thing :-)
09:27 < rxr> yes, I just work thru the mailing list traffic :-)
09:28 < mpp> off course
09:29 < mpp> preparing another package for t2 :-)
09:30 < rxr> :-)
09:30 < CIA-8> rene * r30438 /trunk/package/base/autoconf/autoconf.desc: * updated autoconf (2.62 -> 2.63)
09:30 < CIA-8> rene * r30439 /trunk/package/gnome2/glib/glib.desc: * updated glib (2.16.5 -> 2.16.6)
09:34 < koan> hi rxr, I managed to build a t2-trunk iso after adding python to the pkgsel for minimal-xorg, a couple of X tools seem to depend on python
09:35 < mpp> i think the corresponding cache files just need to be updated
09:35 < mpp> these seem to be new package dependencies
09:36 < mpp> if you agree rxr i would take upon that task
09:37 < mpp> to check some targets for new desp
09:37 < mpp> dependencies
09:37 < rxr> sure
09:37 < CIA-8> rene * r30440 /trunk/package/network/dhcpcd/rocknet_dhcpcd.sh:
09:37 < CIA-8> Martin Papadopoulos :
09:37 < CIA-8> * fixed dhcpcd rocknet module to actually start the correct daemon
09:37 < CIA-8> * improved same module to store the pid file in /var/run/
09:38 < CIA-8> rene * r30441 /trunk/package/archiver/dpkg/dpkg.desc: * updated dpkg (1.14.21 -> 1.14.22)
09:38 < CIA-8> rene * r30442 /trunk/package/x11/cairomm/cairomm.desc: * updated cairomm (1.6.2 -> 1.6.4)
09:38 < CIA-8> rene * r30443 /trunk/package/contrib/rrdtool/rrdtool.desc: * updated rrdtool (1.3.1 -> 1.3.2)
09:38 < CIA-8> rene * r30444 /trunk/package/perl/perl-extutils-depends/perl-extutils-depends.desc: * updated perl-extutils-depends (0.300 -> 0.301)
09:42 < rxr> mpp: you need to be a little more carful with whitespacing
09:43 < rxr> your crossroads package has 3 extra spaces between the I tag and the text, an extra one in the email address and all Text tags lines end with a space
09:43 < mpp> okay...
09:43 < rxr> whilte this is parsed and builds just fine this extra noise would be best avoided
09:43 < rxr> in general most open source projects are a little picky about whitespacing
09:43 < mpp> so i adjust my editor
09:43 < mpp> sorry !
09:43 < rxr> mostly for patches to not have random adds/removes due to changed whitespacing
09:44 < rxr> well - I clean it just up - just wanted to let you know
09:44 < mpp> thanx
09:44 < rxr> actually I accept and even hand cut'n paste nearly everything that comes by on the t2 list
09:44 < rxr> on most projects, especially the linux kernel the people will not do and insist on cleaning up and re-posting in the exact format they like :-)
09:45 < rxr> I even unpack zip files and sort the files into T2 :-)
09:45 < mpp> i had this issue with git in the past
09:46 < mpp> but the dvcs i am using now is more tollerate - which made the whitespaces slip through
09:46 < mpp> okay next package will be clean - promised !
09:48 < CIA-8> rene * r30445 /trunk/package/network/crossroads/ (. crossroads.cache crossroads.desc):
09:48 < CIA-8> Martin Papadopoulos :
09:48 < CIA-8> * added crossroads (2.12) - Crossroads Load Balancer and Fail Over Utility
09:48 < mpp> could you use my other mail address
09:49 < mpp> mpp@0x3381e.de
09:49 < mpp> thanx
09:52 < rxr> well - I use the one from the email
09:53 < rxr> maybe just send from the other address in the future?
09:53 < rxr> gnunet misses the checksum
09:54 < mpp> ah yes
09:54 < mpp> that one
09:54 < mpp> did you insert it - or should i fix it ?
09:55 < rxr> I'll fix
09:55 < mpp> :-) thanx
09:57 < CIA-8> rene * r30446 /trunk/package/gnome2/gmime/gmime.desc: * updated gmime (2.2.22 -> 2.2.23)
09:57 < CIA-8> rene * r30447 /trunk/package/x11/xterm/xterm.desc: * updated xterm (236 -> 237)
09:57 < CIA-8> rene * r30448 /trunk/package/gnome2/gtk+/gtk+.desc: * updated gtk+ (2.12.11 -> 2.12.12)
10:01 < mpp> rxr: i need to have to a custom makefile for a package
10:02 < mpp> how do i do this with the hooks ?
10:02 < rxr> you mean the Makefile is not named Makefile?
10:02 < rxr> in that case add -f MakeFileName.whatever to the makeopt and makeinstopt
10:03 < mpp> yes and there is no make install ill have to do a little of my own processing
10:03 < mpp> allthough really lightweight
10:08 < mpp> mpp needs to study the package chapter of t2-handbook :-) - best used with some kaffein
10:13 < rxr> var_append makeopt ' ' '-f Makefile-name'
10:13 < rxr> makeinstopt=
10:13 < rxr> hook_add postmake 5 "install fiel $root/$some_dir/dest ..."
10:16 < CIA-8> rene * r30449 /trunk/package/network/gnunet/ (. gnunet.cache gnunet.desc):
10:16 < CIA-8> Martin Papadopoulos :
10:16 < CIA-8> * added gnunet (0.8.0b) - A peer-to-peer framework focusing on security
10:19 < CIA-8> rene * r30451 /trunk/package/base/pciutils/pciutils.desc: * updated pciutils (3.0.0 -> 3.0.1)

10:47 < CIA-8> rene * r30453 /trunk/package/perl/perl-spreadsheet-write-excel/perl-spreadsheet-write-excel.desc: * updated perl-spreadsheet-write-excel (2.24 -> 2.25)
11:00 < CIA-8> rene * r30456 /trunk/package/develop/git/git.desc: * updated git (1.6.0.1 -> 1.6.0.2)
11:12 < rxr> mtr: the evidence update in 30420 does not checkout from SVN
11:12 < rxr> mtr: the source is still on sourceforge, single project
11:13 < rxr> mtr: however the evidence project looks dead anyway, did it built somehow on your side?
11:13 < rxr> mtr: maybe we delete it ?
11:25 < mtr> rxr: yep, evidence should be removed
11:26 < rxr> done
11:26 < rxr> Committed revision 30457.
11:26 < mtr> this project did not even got a new home in the svn tree
11:27 < rxr> that might just because it is a freestanding project on sourceforge
11:27 < mtr> thanks ;-)
11:27 < rxr> but the sf.net CVS has no commit AFAICS in the last couple of years
11:27 < CIA-8> rene * r30457 /trunk/package/e17/evidence/: * removed evidence, apparently dead project, defect source URL since r30420
11:29 < mpp> hey rxr
11:29 < mpp> i have build a package with modifie make make install
11:29 < mpp> so far everything works
11:31 < mpp> problem is the tar pkg process at the end complains that the install path cannot be found
11:31 < mpp> which is correct
11:31 < mpp> in the build/var/mypkg/ are the files but the tar looks for build/var/mypkg/mypkg/
11:31 < mpp> what am i missing ?
11:32 < rxr> hm - I think I do not yet know what you mean :-(
11:34 < mpp> ill take some more minutes
11:34 < mpp> bebacksoon
11:53 < mpp> sorry
11:53 < mpp> i messed with package hooks
11:55 < CIA-8> rene * r30459 /trunk/package/base/freeipmi/freeipmi.desc: * updated freeipmi (0.6.6 -> 0.6.7)
11:56 < CIA-8> rene * r30458 /trunk/package/python/kiwi/kiwi.desc: * updated kiwi (1.9.22 -> 1.9.23)
11:57 < CIA-8> rene * r30460 /trunk/package/network/mausezahn/ (build.patch mausezahn.cache mausezahn.conf mausezahn.desc): * updated mausezahn (0.32 -> 0.33.2)
12:01 < CIA-8> rene * r30461 /trunk/package/audio/snd/snd.desc: * updated snd (10 -> 10.0)
12:01 < CIA-8> rene * r30462 /trunk/package/base/man-pages/man-pages.desc: * updated man-pages (3.08 -> 3.09)
12:02 < CIA-8> rene * r30463 /trunk/package/gnome2/deskbar-applet/deskbar-applet.desc: * updated deskbar-applet (2.22.1 -> 2.22.3.1)
12:41 < mpp> how is the CreateCopyPatch used for a new package ?
12:42 < mpp> im not quiet sure - thats why i'm asking
12:44 < mpp> is a single [COPY] enough for the scripts to patch it in ?
12:47 < rxr> you need no COPY line at all, it should do it completly on it's own
12:47 < mpp> ah oay
12:47 < mpp> its running through the packacge recursivly
12:47 < mpp> whooo
12:48 < rxr> note that scripts/Commit will run Create-CkSumPatch and Create-CopyPatch and try to generate a commit message
12:48 < rxr> you could run that instead, except that you can not commit yet, though you could still quit the script then just for the auto fixup to be run
12:49 < mpp> okay thats handy
12:59 -!- DuckFault1 [n=DuckFaul@rrcs-71-43-244-114.se.biz.rr.com] has joined #t2
13:13 < CIA-8> rene * r30464 /trunk/package/graphic/exact-image/ (0.6.0-txt-typos.patch exact-image.desc): * updated exact-image (0.6.0 -> 0.6.1)
13:26 < koan> ok when I try to boot my Mac from the cd where I burned the iso, I get an error message in OpenFirmware
13:26 < koan> "Invalid memory access at %SRR0: 00000000 00000000 %SRR1: 10000000 00083030"
13:27 < koan> any idea what has gone wrong?
13:29 < rxr> nope
13:30 < rxr> you build powerpc64 for g5, right ?
13:31 < CIA-8> rene * r30465 /trunk/package/java/jakarta-regexp/jakarta-regexp.desc: * updated jakarta-regexp (1.4 -> 1.5)
13:35 < koan> indeed rxr
13:36 < rxr> can you make the iso available? I could give it a try and may be able to debug it
13:36 < rxr> maybe some kernel regression on just your older G5, I could take a look
13:36 < koan> ok I will upload it (but that could take a while)
13:38 < koan> ETA: 2 hours
13:55 < mpp> hey rxr
13:55 < mpp> the udev errors spitten out on a generic build
13:56 < mpp> any chance getting rid of them ?
13:56 < rxr> yes, polishing the rules to include groups t2 has, or patch udev to not write out warnings, as learlier versions of udev didf
13:56 < rxr> I might vote for both :-)
13:56 < mpp> okay.
14:04 < rxr> mpp: when you create a new package, please do not include ROCK Linux copyright lines :-)
14:04 * rxr to lunch - cu later
14:04 < mpp> got it
14:05 < mpp> sorry

15:47 < koan> what does it mean?
15:49 < rxr> we had this recently on the t2 list

17:40 < mpp> hey rxr
17:40 < mpp> i have a feeling that the kernel.conf in a config or target is not treated properly
17:40 < mpp> some modules i explicitly set to "n" or "m" did get built in the kernel
17:41 < rxr> hm
17:41 < mpp> the example here is the pc speaker
17:41 < rxr> you can take a look into the building kernel's src.linux... dir
17:41 < rxr> in the kernel source tree (cd linux-*)
17:41 < rxr> there are various .config files with numeric extensions
17:42 < rxr> which equal certain processing steps in the package/base/linux24/linux-conf.*
17:42 < mpp> yes the .config is the one who gets to the built
17:42 < rxr> so you can see which step re-enabled it if any ...
17:42 < mpp> okay ill dig
17:42 < rxr> yes, but the .[0-9] ones allow you to see where it was re-enabled
17:43 < mpp> okay in .4 it was enabled
17:43 < mpp> i mean properly set to "m"
17:44 < rxr> ok - so just take a look in package/base/linux24/linux-conf.* which step it is before the cp .config{,.4} that enabled it
17:45 < rxr> maybe our sane t2 config is applied later, after the target one?
17:45 < mpp> check
17:45 < rxr> well - I would have to take a look myself
17:45 < mpp> i also tried to set it in the target
17:45 < mpp> same effect
17:47 < mpp> the target kernel.conf is applied there
17:48 < mpp> so after .4 it got reverted
