09:13 < DeeKey> Hello!
09:13 < DeeKey> LOTS OF SNOW TODAY!
09:16 < rxr> cool
09:16 < rxr> in Germany we also have some snow these days
09:17 < rxr> that is quite exceptional for this time, especially as the last decades have been way warmer around easter due to the so called global warming affair ...
09:17 < DeeKey> There was a wall of snow when I opened my garage (it opens up) :)
09:19 < DeeKey> I had to bump the snow wall :)
09:34 < rxr> :-)
09:44 < mtr> moin
09:44 < DeeKey> hello!
09:45 < mtr> hi DeeKey
09:47 < DeeKey> yesterday I have lost the battle of compilation a new package called rtai-xml :(
09:47 < DeeKey> I was not able to compile an old C++ library, which is used by this program :( I think that there could be problems with he configuration. Well, the .configure script just not implemented for rtai-xml ...
09:47 < DeeKey> Quite strange, because seems that people are using it...
09:47 < DeeKey> men rta-xml..
10:04 < rxr> hm
10:04 < rxr> is it binary only?
10:09 < DeeKey> no! It is a source package
10:09 < DeeKey> maybe it is a problem with my compilation tools...

11:28 < DeeKey> rxr: May I ask you to make a quick test build of rtai-xml package. I have a feeling, that it s problem with my setup. I am not quite sure if I made a commit yesterday with fixes to rtai-xml. But anyhow, there is only rtai-xml.desc file, which contains only link to the source package...

11:48 < rxr> DeeKey: how to test? build the rtai target I guess ?
11:49 < DeeKey> no, you can build it standalone. It does not depend on anything...
11:51 < rxr> oh, nice
11:54 < DeeKey> .. uff. I was wrong... It depends on rtai. I have just remembered the error log. It contains references to rtai libs... But anyway try to build is standalone first (it requires less efforts from your side). There are definitely problems with the xmlrpc library...
11:55 < rxr> the package is not yet in tree, is it ?
11:56 < rxr> though me quickly off for lunch - cu soon
11:57 < DeeKey> AGRR... I thought that i have added it... Damn... Bon appetite. :)

21:01 < tri> moin
21:10 < DeeKey> hello
21:12 < DeeKey> tri: have you ever tried to compile target for a general purpose distro? I mean ubuntu, redhat, suse etc.
21:13 < tri> for or on ?
21:13 < DeeKey> I want to "inject" a new patched kernel and some progs
21:13 < DeeKey> both :)
21:14 < DeeKey> i want to emerge-pck
21:15 < DeeKey> Sould it be distro dependent or not? Mean, do I need to explicitly declare in T2 that I am building for disto X ?
21:16 < tri> hm i think you build your own distro and not for any distro
21:18 < DeeKey> No, I know that it is possible to build using t2 for existing distro..
21:18 < DeeKey> Say, i have t2 installed on ubuntu. I can use t2 to compile me a fresh kernel..
22:10 -!- d-marc [n=d-marc@dslb-084-058-032-190.pools.arcor-ip.net] has quit ["KVIrc 3.2.4 Anomalies http://www.kvirc.net/"]
22:12 < rxr> DeeKey: yes, but you have to be careful and know what you do
22:12 < rxr> e.g. you also have to use -deps=none and manually specify what you want to build, as otherwise T2 would build everything as no /var/adm/ package installation meta data is avaialble and the T2 scripts think everything has to be build ...
22:13 < rxr> I also sometimes do this, like updating apache here, and broken sed there etc.
22:16 < DeeKey> rxr: I am going to start a new target called XEN
22:18 < rxr> neat :_)
22:18 < DeeKey> I am going to create a minimal diskless distributive to run XEN.
22:18 < rxr> that would be much welcomed
22:21 < DeeKey> My idea is the following: you plug server to the network. It boots XEN distributive.
22:21 < DeeKey> Using this distributive servers can launch various virtual OS's.
22:21 < DeeKey> The OS image will be located on the SAN server (iSCSI interface)
22:21 < DeeKey> Also plan to support LiveMigration.
22:22 < DeeKey> Will use current RTAI distro for this purpose.
22:27 < rxr> yeah - very much welcome
22:27 < rxr> we definetly need more Xen integration
22:27 < rxr> a pitty we are all so saturated with work ...
22:31 < DeeKey> Really :) ?
22:32 < DeeKey> mean really "pittty" :)
22:32 < rxr> yeah, ...
22:36 < DeeKey> I am also totally saturated at work...
22:37 < DeeKey> But still trying to develop my own ideas.
22:38 < DeeKey> Of course it is the best if your work is your hobby :). If not you had to work twice more :)
22:43 < rxr> sill I have :-(
22:48 < DeeKey> If you have to work that much than it means that either you are
22:48 < DeeKey> 1) Inexperienced or
22:48 < DeeKey> 2) Greedy -- someone cannot get work because of you ;)
