16:35 < keinek_> rxr, yes what is that order?
16:35 < rxr> when do you want to fill the beginning?
16:35 < rxr> I wanted -rc5-mm3
16:35 < rxr> with the existing I get:
16:35 < rxr> -mm3-rc5 ....
16:35 < mnemoc> rxr: but on the next and the next patch?
16:36 < rxr> mnemoc: you prefix - I want postfix ...
16:36 < mnemoc> ok :)
16:36 < rxr> -rc5-mm3-xen3-vserver9
16:36 < rxr> not
16:36 < rxr> -vserver9-xen3-mm3-rc5
16:36 < mnemoc> true
16:36 < rxr> ok
16:36 < mnemoc> that -rc5 at the end looks weird
16:37 < keinek_> i was send yesterday a new package

16:37 < keinek_> is a gpl program compatible with hacha from windows.
16:37 < keinek_> archive util that split and join big files.

17:21 < mipe> so rxr: why do we need x_dirtee postmake in xproto? i think thats the one causing some symlink problems
17:21 < rxr> I fixed the one problem in it
17:22 < rxr> we need the lib and include links for some packages to build
17:22 < rxr> and the font symlink so that fonts work since just building the modular package places them in the lib64 dir on thos architecture
17:36 < CIA-20> aldas * r14199 /trunk/package/kde/digikam/digikam.desc: * updated digikam (0.7.4 -> 0.8.0)

17:43 < mnemoc> what's the life of that?
17:43 < rxr> mnemoc: I talk about the current arget/]
17:43 < rxr> target/{livecd,install} that are no targets

17:43 < mnemoc> misc/target/image/* ?
17:44 -!- misl [n=chatzill@82-217-66-150.cable.quicknet.nl] has joined #t2
17:44 < rxr> I would not move it into misc
17:44 < rxr> misc should be misc fluff
17:44 < mnemoc> misc is not misc fluff
17:44 < mnemoc> misc/archive is misc fluff
17:44 < rxr> those target output postporcesing / image creation deserves some top-level near /target, no?
17:45 < mnemoc> misc/*/parse-config is only active on our buildchain
17:45 < mnemoc> is already*
17:45 < mnemoc> we have misc/share misc/output misc/tail ..... lot of 'important' stuff is there
17:47 < mnemoc> misc/target/ is the place for common stuff for all targets imo
17:47 < rxr> hm
17:47 < rxr> or I leave them where they are until some enlightenment
17:48 < mnemoc> if 'misc' string doesn't like you we could relocate them to a different string, but we can't invent a new root dir for each new feature
17:48 < mnemoc> we need a single place for all non-{config,build,arch,package,target} things
17:49 < mnemoc> 'sde' maybe
17:50 < mnemoc> but i doubt that is a good change for 2.2
17:52 < rxr> I leave it as it is right now and focus on getting per architecture/%/boot going

18:49 < rxr> guess the usual windows was yoused some month syndrom
18:50 < rxr> or the old one from horst that powers gsmp.tfh-berln.de ...
18:50 < rxr> I guess the box I have here is faster than the one from kerstin - maybe you want to place it there or so
18:50 < rxr> just tell me where to dump it in berlin
18:50 < valentin> nice idea
18:51 < valentin> when and where do you arive ?
18:51 < rxr> if you have no use I can dump it as server at inberlin (at belug) for t2 mirroring
18:51 < rxr> mid. next week
18:51 < valentin> well, only usage would be replacing kerstins machine
18:51 -!- Stelz [n=stealth@80.240.209.21] has quit [Read error: 110 (Connection timed out)]
18:51 < rxr> we could use that nice slot athlon then as server somewhere ...
18:51 < valentin> yeah..
18:52 < valentin> how was your christmas ?
18:52 < rxr> unspectarular as usual ... so just fine
18:52 < rxr> though the consumer dsl was down here since yesterday evening hindering my hackery ...
18:53 < rxr> and yours in berlin?
18:54 < valentin> nice. yesterday kerstin and i celebrated xmas eve with janna and today we were at k.s mother, eating to much of some big bird animal
18:55 < valentin> still feel fed up
18:55 < rxr> some?
18:55 < rxr> as in undefined ?
18:56 < rxr> valentin: falk wants a new computer
18:56 < valentin> no, just do not know the right translation for "Pute" (and to lazy to look it up)
18:56 < rxr> he wants an apple since all his musicans tell him how great it is
18:56 < valentin> btw: falk is here tomorow
18:56 < rxr> I know
18:56 < valentin> well, apple is not tooo bad once it runs linux :)
18:56 < rxr> I told him the time is a bit bad time to buy an apple due to intel switch and undefined future
18:56 < rxr> I told him to ask you as 2nd oppinion ...
18:57 < valentin> well - think his musican software will run
18:57 < rxr> yeah - but in one year?
18:57 < rxr> no new ppc software anymore
18:57 < rxr> thus I do not tell people to buy an apple right now ...
18:57 < valentin> if you want to unsell it, then i'll tell the same
18:57 < rxr> he does not want windows anymore - to broken alltime - the other possiblity would be his finale in wine
18:58 < rxr> should run good according to interne googling
18:58 < valentin> is there finale for mac ?
18:58 < rxr> yes
18:58 < rxr> win and mac
18:58 < rxr> the win version runs under wine
18:58 < rxr> at least the 2005
18:58 < rxr> tell him what you think is realy
18:58 < rxr> not what I want him to use
18:58 < rxr> obviously t2 linux with wine and finale/win
18:59 < valentin> i'll ask him what he plans to do with his machine.
18:59 < rxr> but if you think a 2.000 EUR powerbook is a reasonable choice today tell him that
18:59 < rxr> valentin: do you want his thinkpad or what do you mean ..
18:59 < rxr> he wants to edit notes and that with an external 21" LCD screen
19:00 < rxr> thus he needs at least the powerbook when he wants to use apple products due to the screen requirements ..
19:00 < rxr> thus an apple sollution would be rather expensive ...
19:00 < rxr> jus the overview - tell him what you think is beast
19:00 < rxr> best even
19:00 < valentin> hm, you are right
19:00 < valentin> did not know he wants a portable
19:01 < valentin> thought he would be fine with a cheap stationary mac
19:01 < rxr> however I do not want to hear complaints form apple people that do not get new software anymore in a year
19:01 < rxr> he wants portable and additional 21" high res TFT
19:01 < rxr> since he has too few notes on his current screen
19:01 < rxr> and he wants no windows since it continously slows down near a halt on his machine
19:01 < valentin> hm - if he buys an mac@intel, then we will hear complaints that there is no software _yet_ :)
19:02 < rxr> though with xp on his 333MHz thinkpad that is not too much of a wonder
19:02 < valentin> yuck
19:02 < rxr> windows slowdowns over time and viruses do the rest
19:02 < rxr> he wants the box ASAP
19:02 < rxr> not in mid 2006
19:02 < valentin> :/
19:02 < rxr> and intel powerbooks will not be out soon
19:03 < rxr> and you can run ppc software on the intel boxes due to the virtualiyer included
19:03 < rxr> virtualizer ...
19:03 < rxr> code-named rosetta
19:03 < valentin> yes, but how good will that work for realtime music software ?
19:03 < rxr> on-the-fly translates the stuff into x86 code ...
19:03 < valentin> i know thay say rosetta rocks
19:03 < rxr> the software runs near full-speed
19:03 < valentin> let's see how goot it works in reality
19:03 < rxr> somewhere around transmeta code-morphing speed
19:03 < valentin> yeah
19:04 < rxr> that is how it works in reality - I read reviews ...
19:04 < rxr> but the bigger issue comes in a year++ when you have no intel->powerpc rosetta and thus no recent software for you powermac
19:06 < rxr> anyway - if you think a current powerbook is good for him tell him
19:06 < valentin> i'll try to be true and discuss all the pro/cons of t2@intel and osx@ppc with him
19:06 < valentin> and finaly he has to make a decission
19:06 < rxr> that why I told him to get a 2nd oppinon
19:06 < valentin> but nice you informed me
19:07 < rxr> and btw. wine works really great those days
19:07 < rxr> e.g. even in archivista we run the OCR kernel.exe under wine ...
19:07 < rxr> they have a OEM license for that beast ...
19:08 < valentin> rxr: do you remember the specs of marie's old computer ? athlon 800 something ?
19:08 < rxr> s.th.
19:08 < rxr> 800 or 1k
19:08 < rxr> 900 even
19:08 < rxr> s.th. like that
19:09 < rxr> and ati card
19:09 < rxr> radeon s.th.
19:09 < rxr> if you want to know exactly I can power it up
19:09 < rxr> oh - and a cool soundcard
19:09 < valentin> well, no need to hurry :)
19:09 < rxr> would be cool if I could keep that one
19:09 < rxr> I think kerstin has a ok trident nx, right?
19:09 < valentin> the soundcard or the whole machine ?
19:09 < rxr> soundcard
19:09 < valentin> yes
19:09 < rxr> I dstroyed a trident nx on my side due to static charge ...
19:09 < valentin> of course trident is enough for kerstin
19:10 < rxr> :-(
19:10 < rxr> well the s.th. in that box is not much better
19:10 < valentin> what soundcard is in maries box ?
19:10 < rxr> but around NX quality
19:10 < rxr> do not remeber anymore
19:10 < rxr> some * Fire * with gold'ed connectors ...
19:10 < rxr> some 90EUR card or so ...
19:10 < rxr> not el-cheapo
19:10 < valentin> you can choose one of those two cards
19:11 < rxr> well kersin has 600Mhz IIRC
19:11 < valentin> kerstin has no good hifi equipment to connect to anyway
19:11 < rxr> that box is faster - somewhere betweem 800 or 1k or so ...
19:11 < rxr> maybe even 1.1
19:11 < valentin> yes, kerstin has your very old 600mhz athlon
19:11 < rxr> guess you want those definetly, right?
19:11 < rxr> and we move the slot athlon to some off-site location as server?
19:11 < rxr> very old ?
19:11 < valentin> why not ?
19:11 < rxr> wel, ...
19:11 < rxr> well even
19:12 < rxr> she has this cool AMD Irongate chipset ,-)
19:12 < valentin> rxr: you played QIII on that machine, so it must be old
19:12 < rxr> hahaha
19:12 < valentin> it had been a very cool machine and it is still
19:12 < rxr> stil decent enough when run with the right os (tm)
19:12 < valentin> though she feels my ibook is faster :)
19:13 < valentin> so, i'll be back in some 20 minutes or so...

19:49 < ojh> I indexed all in the GNOME directoy with .desktop files so the search works well for finding applications by keyword.

19:54 < ojh> The main disadvantage of Doodle is that it provides little metadata back to the front end to classify the results. So all I get back is a list of file names and I would like to do some MIME based filtering and handling. I can always extract the extention from the file name but that is a bit of a kludge.
