00:21 < mnemoc_> morfoh: did you saw 'kid' ? and celementtree?
00:22 < morfoh> mnemoc_: no ... URL ?
00:24 < mnemoc_> http://lesscode.org/projects/kid/
00:24 < morfoh> mnemoc_: I missed you LINK file ;)
00:24 < mnemoc_> :)
00:25 < mnemoc_> http://naeblis.cx/rtomayko/2004/11/30/pythonic-xml-based-templating-language
00:25 < mnemoc_> http://www.wide-project.org/docs/process.png <--- and a first try diagram for wide FolderHandler <-> FileHandler mess
00:25 < mnemoc_> where distributability is done by FolderHandler
00:26 < mnemoc_> and FileHandler remains independent
00:29 < morfoh> aha ... so your aren't as lazy as I thought ;)
00:29 < mnemoc_> o_O
00:30 < morfoh> mnemoc_: you provided nice links ;)
00:31 < mnemoc_> :)
00:32 < mnemoc_> i want asymptote also
00:32 < mnemoc_> and you want ReST
00:32 < mnemoc_> tikisyntax would be also nice
00:32 < morfoh> yep
00:32 < valentin> mnemoc_: hi, and what about asymptote ?
00:32 < valentin> another cms language ?
00:32 < morfoh> oh ... hi valentin ... you were hiding ;)
00:33 < valentin> yes, like always
00:33 < valentin> idling in the background and occasionally reading scrollback every hour or so
00:33 < morfoh> valentin: good to know ;)
00:33 < mnemoc_> valentin: wide-project.org: webbased integrated development enviroment..... an smart filemanager and wrapper to great tools not always available
00:33 < valentin> we are quite busy theese days, rearanging our flat a little
00:35 < valentin> and what has this to do with asymptote ?
00:37 < mnemoc_> wide can have a module to know to edit, highlight and so 'actions' over .asy files
00:37 < mnemoc_> s/so/do/
00:37 < mnemoc_> doing cache, etc...
00:37 < mnemoc_> svn backend if your folder is an svn_folder, etc....
00:38 < mnemoc_> actually i want to bring those tools to non-geeks people and to geeks which don't always have them available
00:39 < mnemoc_> mod_asy would be usable as a normal apache handler to display graphics out of it also
00:40 < mnemoc_> without 'wide'

00:47 < karasz> hi to everybody
00:48 < morfoh> hi karasz
00:49 < karasz> how is life around ?
00:49 < mnemoc_> valentin: do you find it useless? dumb?
00:50 < karasz> life? :) no
00:51 < karasz> but I guess that we are not here to discuss thoose kind of questins anyhow
00:51 < mnemoc_> valentin: my first goal to make my wife (humanist) to work easily with latex and svn with her groupmates only having to learn same basic tex rules
00:52 < karasz> :))
00:53 < karasz> ok, I guess I deserved that...
00:53 < mnemoc_> they really _suffer_ to make something decent on ms word/powerpoint or openoffice
00:53 < karasz> my introduction wasn't very appropriate fos this chanell
00:54 < morfoh> mnemoc_: too much features ;)
00:54 < karasz> the poit is that i have a little problem installing the t2 iso for p4
00:54 < karasz> poit=point
00:54 < mnemoc_> morfoh: i don't want wysiwyg
00:54 < mnemoc_> karasz: define problem
00:55 < mnemoc_> morfoh: or macro buttons
00:55 < karasz> i guess i didn't understand what is that iso for
00:55 < mnemoc_> morfoh: just web (with auth) homes with svn and normal folder and editable files
00:55 < karasz> i tried to install it like any other linux distro i used
00:55 < mnemoc_> karasz: for install
00:56 < karasz> here is what i did
00:56 < karasz> i wrote the iso on cd's, i booted the firs one
00:56 < karasz> created 3 partitions /boot swap /
00:57 < karasz> and i choosed full install
00:57 < karasz> the installer did't ask me where to put grub, un mbr or the firs partition
00:58 < karasz> and ofcourse after reboot i was left with a nice prompt
00:58 < karasz> after that i rebooted from cd and make only 2 partitions / and swap
00:58 < mnemoc_> you have to install grub using stone or by hand
00:59 < karasz> using stone
00:59 < karasz> anyway
00:59 < karasz> i managed to get installed the stuf
00:59 < karasz> but after reboot i got a kernel panic
01:00 < mnemoc_> mounting root i guess
01:00 < karasz> which said something about undefined simbol in a library
01:00 < sparc-kly> t2 sparc iso is ready ?
01:00 < karasz> syncing root if i remember
01:02 < karasz> i would appreciate a linte howto
01:02 < mnemoc_> karasz: can you paste the error literally?
01:02 < mnemoc_> sparc-kly: rene's sparc is _sloooooooooow_
01:02 < karasz> i am not by any means a linux expert but i did my share of installs with debian, tinysofa or other red hat derivates
01:03 < karasz> sorry
01:03 < karasz> right now it is not possible
01:03 < karasz> i am not very well prepared tonight
01:03 < karasz> i am just checkin out things here
01:04 < karasz> but i will return tomorrow with the full info
01:04 < sparc-kly> :( not sparc iso at this time :(
01:04 < mnemoc_> please
01:04 < karasz> ok
01:04 < mnemoc_> sparc-kly: why don't _you_ build one?
01:04 < karasz> thanks very much
01:04 < karasz> I will return tomorrow
01:05 < karasz> by the way
01:05 < mnemoc_> we need to write documentation :\
01:05 < karasz> the machine is an older Dell GX150 512 mb ram and a 40gb maxtor
01:05 < karasz> I can understand you
01:06 < karasz> i don't like at all to write documentation either
01:06 < morfoh> mnemoc_: yes ... we need some more docu ...
01:07 < karasz> by to you all and see you tomorrow

01:11 < mnemoc_> valentin: wide
01:13 < valentin> i did not say i find it useless
01:13 < valentin> i just cannot imagine how to work with wide
01:13 < valentin> in terms that i did not understand it exactly
01:19 < sparc-kly> mnemoc_ : is possible build one in my AMD XP t2 box ?
01:21 < mnemoc_> sure
01:23 < mnemoc_> valentin: a vertial bar with actions based on context and selected file and a list of files on this folder with atributes, and an edit button.
01:23 < mnemoc_> valentin: a simple file manager with plain text editor
01:29 < valentin> and what has this to do with apache ?
01:30 < morfoh> valentin: we'll use mod_python
01:30 < mnemoc_> using handlers
01:32 < valentin> ok
01:33 < mnemoc_> as clean as possible, so you could AddHandler mod_python .asy \nPythonHandler mod_asy | .asy on your apache and magicly you get the image instead of the source, for example
01:33 < valentin> aha
01:33 < mnemoc_> or .rst and get xhtml, etc...
01:33 < mnemoc_> or .desc and get the 'matrix' :)
01:33 < valentin> and what exactly do you want to do with wide ? use it for t2 project website ?
01:34 < mnemoc_> currently unrelated
01:34 < mnemoc_> i wanted for a thesis, but as i quit i decided to do it before
01:34 < mnemoc_> at least a very basic version
01:35 < valentin> ah - mnemoc : wide is your project ?
01:35 < mnemoc_> one of my vaporware
01:35 < valentin> now i understand

12:34 < minto> hi rxr
12:34 < minto> I still have some problems building on amd64
12:35 < minto> even when building 32 bits
12:36 < rxr> minto: I can take a look soon
12:36 < minto> Should I turn crossbuild on? for both 32 and 64 bits?
12:36 < rxr> though first I need to go out shopping for some things ...
12:36 < minto> Ahh, I thought you just came back from shopping.
12:36 < minto> Going to Lidl?
12:37 < rxr> no
12:37 < rxr> no idea if there is a lidl in zuerick
12:37 < rxr> the have coop and s.th. else here ...

12:57 -!- azureus [~azureusLa@dtm9-d9bbc20f.pool.mediaWays.net] has joined #t2
13:09 < minto> Valentin: I think reproduceable stuff?
13:10 < minto> I am doing a 32 bits minimal 2.1 build and it fails in linux24 stage 5
13:12 < minto> I get a lot of the following messages:
13:12 < minto> depmod: ELF file /lib/modules/2.4.31-dist/kernel/net/x25/x25.o not for this arch
13:12 < minto> itecture
13:18 < valentin> what does "file /lib/modules/2.4.31-dist/kernel/net/x25/x25.o" say ?
13:19 < valentin> btw: you are using 2.4 kernel ?
13:19 < minto> no I think it is 2.6 kenel
13:20 < minto> But I also thought it would be 64 bits, but /lib64 is missing.
13:20 < valentin> and your builds are aborting because of the depmod message ?
13:21 < minto> file command says:
13:21 < minto> ELF 32-bit LSB relocatable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), not stripped
13:21 < minto> This minimal 32 bits build is
13:21 < valentin> this sounds ok, doesn't it ? what is the output for your other kernel objects ?
13:23 < minto> Where can I find others?
13:23 < valentin> in /lib/modules//....
13:24 < valentin> for 2.6 kernels, the modules have a suffix of .ko instead of .o
13:25 < valentin> as a hotfix you could think about skipping linux24 in stage 5 as long as linux26 works for you
13:26 < minto> for 2.6 it says:
13:26 < minto> ELF 64-bit LSB relocatable, AMD x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), not stripped
13:27 < minto> I will strip it for the time being. Should I create a trac issue for this?
13:28 < valentin> strip what ? the modules ?
13:28 < minto> strip = skip linux24 package
13:28 < valentin> it is normal that kernel modules are "not stripped"
13:28 < valentin> ah :)
13:29 < valentin> i thought you wanted to do sth like "strip `find /lib/modules -name '*.ko'`"
13:30 < minto> :-) I only wanne mess within T2 limits. Not doing strange things myself. I want things to be reproducable. Messing outside of T2 would break reproducability.

16:37 < morfoh> rxr: or is it possible to get the archived messages out of the t2-updates ml ?
16:38 < rxr> no
16:38 < rxr> not right now
16:39 < minto> Morfoh: minto at multimach dot com
16:39 < morfoh> minto: roger that! ;)
16:40 < minto> Bill Gates on LiveAid is sooo wrong.
16:40 < rxr> minto ?
16:40 < morfoh> minto: it's shust like the "Muppet Show" ...
16:40 < morfoh> just
16:40 < minto> rxr: Bill Gates just did a speech
16:41 < minto> morfoh: I like the Muppet Show especially Gonzo
16:42 < morfoh> perhaps "LiveAlibi" would be a better name ...
16:42 < rxr> did the t2-update list just got some mails?
16:42 < morfoh> minto: yes ... ack. some of the "Muppet Show" I like too ;)
16:43 < minto> rxr: Yes, I just subscribed and I get mails from outpost.
16:44 < rxr> ok / let's see if more arrice on 16.45 ...
16:44 < rxr> arrive ...
16:44 < rxr> grummeling ..
16:45 < morfoh> minto: mail is out ;)
16:47 < rxr> ok - I think it is working fully automated now ...
16:47 < rxr> seems to have been a PATH issue ...
16:54 -!- karasz [~karasz@80.97.102.202] has joined #t2
16:54 < minto> thanks morfoh, let's see what I can update.
16:55 < karasz> hi everybody
16:55 < karasz> mnemoc_ I'm back
16:55 < rxr> minto: t2-update seems to be described on the homepage
16:56 < rxr> http://www.t2-project.org/contact.html
16:56 < minto> rxr: you are right, I looked over it.
16:56 < morfoh> hi karasz ... but mnemoc_ isn't here now ;)
16:57 < karasz> no problem, I guess somebody else could help me with my T2 instalation
16:59 < karasz> anybody...?
17:00 < minto> hi karasz, not that I am really skilled, but I could try.
17:00 < minto> What is your problem?
17:00 < karasz> any help will do
17:00 < karasz> I' m using the T2 descktop isos
17:01 < karasz> here is what i've done till now
17:01 < karasz> booted the cd
17:01 < karasz> accepted defaults till the prompt
17:02 < karasz> enterd cfdisk and made 2 partitions 1 root bootable and 1 swap
17:02 < karasz> selected a full install
17:02 < karasz> right now the packages are installing
17:02 < karasz> i guess it would take a while
17:03 < karasz> but my problem with the prevoius instalation is that i got a kernel panic
17:03 < karasz> right after reboot from hdd
17:04 < minto> Have you discussed this kernel panic with mnemoc?
17:04 < morfoh> azureus: I forgot to build the bootdisk target for the athlon-xp iso set to be bootable ... so I've to build it first to generate a bootable CD
17:05 < karasz> not realy because yesterday i couldn't give him the exact error message
17:06 < minto> Let's wait what will be the result this time.
17:06 < karasz> i guess that in 10 or 15 minutes i can produce that error message
17:06 < morfoh> minto: perhaps you can assist karasz to open a new "issue" at -> https://trac.t2-project.org/
17:07 < minto> karasz: If anything goes wrong again. Mayby write down exactly what the kernel message is.
17:07 < karasz> i will
17:07 < karasz> i guess that in 10 or 15 minutes i can produce that error message
17:07 < minto> like morfoh suggests you could create an issue in our bug tracker at the url morfoh mentioned.
17:08 < karasz> but i am not sure that it is a bug
17:08 < karasz> maybe i've done something wrong
17:08 < morfoh> rxr: on my rc1 athlon-xp build spamassassin, dvb-apps and exim failed ... so would you like to publish it anyway ?
17:08 < morfoh> karasz: anyway ... open an issue ;)
17:08 < karasz> ok
17:08 < karasz> how ?
17:08 < morfoh> follow the link
17:09 < morfoh> https://trac.t2-project.org/
17:09 < morfoh> click on "New Ticket" and fill out the form
17:10 < karasz> I will do that once I have the err message
17:10 < morfoh> ok
17:11 < rxr> morfoh: spamassassin built ?
17:11 < morfoh> ah no the three failed ... sorry
17:11 < rxr> this tiny celeron box is not fun to build on ..
17:12 < morfoh> rxr: are you still there ?
17:12 < rxr> model name : Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.00GHz
17:12 < rxr> cpu MHz : 1495.652
17:13 < rxr> morfoh: here?, yes
17:13 < morfoh> rxr: how long? ... urgent task ?
17:15 < rxr> morfoh: what do you talk about 17:16 < morfoh> rxr: ... I just asked how long you plan to stay there ? ... nothing more ;)
17:17 < rxr> in switzerland ?
17:17 < rxr> at least 2 weeks
17:17 < rxr> maybe 4
17:17 < morfoh> yes ... uhm? really ?
17:18 < rxr> and at some time susan and I holiday
17:18 < rxr> either in 2 weeks or in 4 ...
17:18 < rxr> morfoh: yes, really
17:18 < morfoh> god :)
17:18 < morfoh> good
17:18 < rxr> goo holiday or good that I do nto get on your nerves in berlin /
17:18 < rxr> ? even
17:19 < minto> rxr: maybe both :-)
17:19 < morfoh> rxr: good ... that you'll have some time with susan :)
17:19 < rxr> yaeh 0 and when the holiday is in 4 weeks susan will join me here in 2 anyway ...
17:20 < rxr> maybe t2 trunk will get a scan server target
17:20 < morfoh> rxr: and I guess mostly you're not the one going on somebody nerves anyway :)
17:20 < rxr> though the licensed fine reader engine will be manual download ...
17:21 < rxr> ouhm 17:..
17:21 < rxr> need to quickly depbug a minised issue on x86 and then analyze how to boost the performance of batch scans ...
17:22 < rxr> tough the later might be better done tomorrow ...
17:23 < minto> oeps, ltrace failed in 32 bits reference build on amd64.
17:23 < morfoh> rxr: this scan server could be interesting for the organization I work for
17:23 < rxr> hm the celron has less than half of the speed of my aging home athlon ....
17:24 < rxr> they could also pay the final product - they have quite nice OCR included then ...
17:25 < morfoh> rxr: yes ... they already looking for solutions to build up some digital archives for different kind of things
17:26 < minto> rxr: should I select crossbuild when building for x86 32 bits?
17:27 < minto> I think ltrace wants to build 64 bit even on when specifying 32 bits in config.
17:29 < karasz> I'm back
17:29 < minto> well karasz, how is your install doing?
17:29 < karasz> right now i am looking to a blinking prompter
17:29 < karasz> :(
17:30 < karasz> after the packages were installed
17:30 < minto> :-( indeed
17:30 < karasz> stione asked me about console fonts
17:30 < karasz> stone asked me about console fonts
17:30 < karasz> i had only one option, kernel default none
17:31 < karasz> i selected it
17:31 < karasz> then some config messages
17:31 < karasz> then would you like to unmount and reboot
17:31 < karasz> ?
17:31 < karasz> yes
17:31 < karasz> booted from hdd
17:31 < karasz> and just the blinking prompter
17:32 < karasz> my guess is that grub was not installed properly
17:32 < karasz> now i have just 2 partitions 1 root bootable and swap
17:33 < karasz> should I boot from cd and try to reinstall grub?
17:33 < minto> Have you configured grub properly with stone?
17:33 < karasz> it didn' t ask me anything about grub
17:33 < rxr> minto: no crossbuild needed
17:34 < rxr> ltrace might have a bug trying to build for the wrong arch
17:34 < rxr> it must be fixed then ...
17:34 < minto> rxr: Then I create a trac issue for it.
17:34 < rxr> minto: I guess it does utilize uname or so and tries building that instead of honoring the T2 config
17:35 < minto> karasz: I am afraid I am not skilled enough to help you further.
17:36 < minto> rxr: I will try to figure it out.
17:36 < karasz> thanx anyway
17:36 < karasz> maybe somebody else?
17:36 < minto> karasz: If you are not in a hurry, maybe mnemoc will be here later today,
17:36 < karasz> i will be here at least 4 hours
17:37 < rxr> karasz: the gtub stone config is rather stupid
17:37 < rxr> you need to select every menu option in order to install it ...
17:40 < morfoh> .oO( this will be a long list for the architecture/optimization related issue types)o
17:41 < karasz> "/etc/stone.d/gui_dialog.sh: line 29 : xxxxx Illegal instruction dialog --stdout --title 'STONE - Setup Tool ONE - T2 System Configuration' "$@""
17:42 < karasz> cannot open tty-output
17:45 < karasz> :-?
17:45 < karasz> what is ROCK COnfig ID?
17:47 < karasz> anybody?
17:49 < rxr> karasz: any chance you run a CD that was optimiyed for a newer CPU than you have ?
17:50 < karasz> I have a PIII at 996MHz
17:50 < karasz> default for Del Optiplex GX150
17:50 < CIA-9> rene * r9971 /trunk/package/ (archiver/rpm/ base/rpm/): * moved base/rpm -> archiver
17:50 < morfoh> karasz: and what iso do you use ?
17:51 < rxr> what ISO did you install
17:51 < rxr> ?
17:51 < karasz> I'm using t2 desktop 2.1.0-rc1 p4
17:51 < morfoh> P4 !
17:51 < karasz> i just noticed that... :(
17:52 < karasz> so i need to download another iso...
17:53 < karasz> but only minimal is available for pmmx
17:54 < morfoh> yes ... unfortunately ... we should upload a pmmx iso set soon
17:54 < karasz> if i install a minimal can i upgrade somehow to desktop?
17:54 < rxr> morfoh: yes - who wanted to provide that ?
17:55 < rxr> karasz: in theory yes - run Config and select desktop - then Emerge -system IIRC and you get the remaining packages build from source
17:55 < morfoh> rxr: I don't know ... I wanted to provide an athlon-xp one ... that I know. and I made a rc1 ref build for 2.1 pmmx
17:56 < karasz> only in theory? ;)
17:56 < morfoh> karasz: I think it will work quite fine ;)
17:57 < rxr> karasz: that means seldom done this way - shoudl work fine ...
17:57 < rxr> YMMA
17:57 < karasz> so the bottom line is that i must use o diffrent iso for every kind of cpu, right?
17:57 < rxr> only if you want it perfectly optimized
17:57 < morfoh> karasz: but it will take some time to build the packages ... but anyway this is a good start for using t2 ;)
17:57 < rxr> I usual use pentium-mmx for everything ...
17:58 < karasz> even for athlon?
17:58 < rxr> I also do not really know why we recently built optimized isos before the lowest commmon ...
17:58 < rxr> karasz: sure - still better that the i386 major distros chip
17:58 < karasz> ;)
17:58 < rxr> (aside that there nearly everything sucks ...)
17:59 < rxr> ship even ...
17:59 < karasz> oki
17:59 < morfoh> rxr: I can schedule a fresh pmmx after finishing the athlon-xp bootdisk
18:00 < karasz> then i'm gone downloading, installing , compiling and drinking a lot of coffee
18:00 < karasz> but before that
18:01 < karasz> can i make a suggestion to whom it may concern?
18:01 < karasz> from the docu I read T2 is a very interesting aproach to make specialized distributions
18:02 < karasz> wouln't it be possible to go even further
18:02 < morfoh> karasz: yes ... that's right ... as there is pointed out on the web page T2 isn't a common linux distribution
18:03 < karasz> i mean if somebody tries to make a distro very specialized say to run only a postgresql server
18:03 < morfoh> you can build i.e. highly specialized systems
18:04 < morfoh> karasz: if you want to have some specialized servers try build a "mnemosyne" target
18:04 < karasz> I'm visioning now a buiding system in wich i select some kernel properties an then i select postgresql as main package then the build system selects all other necesary packs
18:05 < karasz> slim ultrafast system at your fingertips...
18:05 < morfoh> karasz: you can do that
18:05 < karasz> wouldn't it be an interesting aproach?
18:05 < karasz> ok then I'l go to
18:05 < karasz> then i'm gone downloading, installing , compiling and drinking a lot of coffee
18:06 < morfoh> karasz: that's the most normal approach here ;)
18:06 < karasz> see you all in a couple of days hopefully with a t2 system freshly installed
18:06 < morfoh> cu
18:06 < karasz> thancks a lot for your time and the info
18:06 < karasz> thanks a lot for your time and the info
18:07 < rxr> cu karasz
18:07 < karasz> bye
18:07 -!- karasz [~karasz@80.97.102.202] has left #t2 []
18:08 < rxr> morfoh: please tell me some time soon what to do with the skas3 patch
18:08 < morfoh> ok
18:09 < rxr> because I want trunk to build again by default ...
18:16 < minto> Hmm, linux now runs on Nintendo DS portable too http://www.dslinux.org/
18:20 < rxr> valentin: where is the NDS targeet ?
18:22 < morfoh> rxr: vserver doesn't work on trunk too
18:22 < valentin> rxr: i can ask ronald if he donates his nds
18:22 < morfoh> hi valentin
18:22 < valentin> have to buy some food at lidl and then continue in our flat
18:22 < morfoh> cu
18:23 < valentin> minto: can you use xinerama to work on both screens ?
18:24 < valentin> so, me away now, cu later
18:25 < morfoh> rxr: what was the problem with the skas3 patch .. didn't applied ?
18:26 < rxr> yes
18:26 < rxr> since update of linux267
18:26 < morfoh> ok ... I can commit a new patch
18:26 < morfoh> already build one
18:26 < morfoh> seems to be ok so far
18:29 < morfoh> rxr: shouldn't we move uml_utilities in disabled list of the ref build like vserver ?
18:30 < morfoh> because we're updating the kernel quite fast on trunk
18:30 < morfoh> and it's not guranteed that we'll have a proper working uml patch
18:32 < minto> valentin: Don't know, but the site shows tux on both screens.
18:34 < rxr> morfoh: no we should build anything possible on the ref build
18:34 < rxr> especially since the uml-utilities are very lightweight
18:34 < morfoh> ok
18:34 < rxr> the only thing that is wrong is uml_utilities patching the kernel
18:34 < rxr> I would not expect them to do so
18:35 < morfoh> I could add a special option
18:35 < rxr> I think the skas patch shoudl find another home and not be enabled by default
18:35 < morfoh> and disabled by default
18:35 < rxr> morfoh: ack
18:35 < rxr> ok - /me away

20:33 < karasz> hi everybody
20:33 < karasz> I'm back
20:33 < minto> hi karasz
20:33 < karasz> dpwnloaded, installed drunk a lot of coffe
20:33 < karasz> everything is almost right
20:33 < minto> And now it works like a blizz :-)
20:34 < karasz> not quite
20:34 < minto> :-(
20:34 < karasz> I'm having a pronblem with my network kard]
20:34 < minto> what is your problem?
20:35 < karasz> i can not install it
20:35 < karasz> t2 says:
20:35 < karasz> PCI/Cardbus device configuration 01:0c.0
20:35 < karasz> Network controller:
20:35 < karasz> 3c905C-TX/TX-M [Tornado]
20:35 < karasz> (3Com Corporation)
20:35 < karasz> Prog-if: VGA [Ethernet controller]
20:35 < karasz> Subsystem: unknown (Dell)
20:36 < karasz> i tried modprobe 3c509
20:36 < karasz> it was the only 3c which didn't said no device
20:36 < karasz> in fact it didn't said anything
20:37 < karasz> but i am puzzled by:
20:37 < karasz> Prog-if: VGA [Ethernet controller]
20:37 < karasz> i mean VGA?
20:38 < minto> I can imagine. I am puzzled too. Maybe someone more experienced knows.
20:38 < karasz> by the way I am using the 2.6 kernel
20:39 < karasz> not 2.4.31
20:40 < karasz> and the network card is an onboard 3com
20:40 < karasz> i think its
20:40 < karasz> 3c905C-TX/TX-M [Tornado]
20:40 < karasz> which T2 recognizes but dont install
20:41 < karasz> so anybody has a hint?
20:57 < karasz> question
20:57 < karasz> where is located the ifcfg-eth0 file
20:57 < karasz> or the file with the same purpose?
21:01 < karasz> minto: it works
21:01 < karasz> :))
21:02 < karasz> yupie!!
21:03 < minto> karasz: welldone
21:04 < karasz> it is strange, I think the driver for netcard is compiled in kernel or smth because it doesnt show in lsmod
21:04 < karasz> where is located Config?
21:05 < karasz> rxr> karasz: in theory yes - run Config and select desktop - then Emerge -system IIRC and you
21:05 < karasz> get the remaining packages build from source
21:07 -!- azureus [~azureusLa@dtm9-d9bbc20f.pool.mediaWays.net] has quit []
21:10 < karasz> how can I install packages on T2?
21:11 < minto> karasz: normally you create a configuration with ./scripts/Config -cfg
21:11 < minto> This is in the T2 package, but I do not know where it is installed?
21:13 < karasz> i want to install mc
21:13 < karasz> for the first step
21:13 < minto> I think you first have to download T2 from svn
21:14 < minto> Hava look at: http://www.t2-project.org/download.html
21:14 < karasz> i dld the pmmx minimal iso
21:14 < karasz> installed it
21:14 < karasz> now i have a working system
21:15 < minto> You also have to get develpment trunk to be able to Emerge/build additional packages.
21:16 < minto> do:
21:16 < minto> cd /usr/src/ # create it if it does not exist.
21:16 < minto> svn co http://svn.exactcode.de/t2/trunk t2-trunk
21:16 < minto> cd t2-trunk
21:16 < minto> ./scripts/Config -cfg
21:18 < karasz> svn command not found
21:19 < minto> In the configuration screen the target you downloaded. Then you can build mc package from source like:
21:19 < minto> ./scripts/EmergePkg -cfg mc
21:19 < minto> use stone to install subversion package first
21:19 < minto> svn = subversion
21:19 < karasz> svn package does not exist in pmmx minimal
21:20 < minto> bummer. I think you have to download it manually and build it manually.
21:21 < karasz> from where do i dld?
21:21 < minto> A great place to start is T2 package matrix at:
21:21 < minto> http://www.t2-project.org/packages
21:22 < minto> look for subversion. the details page has a link to the real subversion project.
21:22 < karasz> http://subversion.tigris.org ?
21:22 < minto> Yepp, that's the one.
21:23 < minto> karasz: maybe you could also install it from another t2 iso.
21:24 < karasz> i have only t2 for p4 and my cpu is p3
21:24 < minto> I think If you build manually all depencies will not be proper in the T2 way.
21:25 < minto> Again bummer. Maybe wait for some expert to tell you what to do.
21:25 < minto> Just to make sure your fresh install does not get polluted.
21:26 < minto> normally every T2 package can also be uninstalled cleanly. If you build manullay you will loose the possibility.
21:28 < minto> Seems like there are not many experts around to give you some advice how to continue.
21:29 < karasz> :(
21:29 < karasz> installed subversion from p4
21:30 < karasz> doesnt work
21:30 < karasz> removed
21:31 < karasz> stucked...:(
21:33 < karasz> anyway subversion depends on apache which is also not present in minimal
21:33 < karasz> so no compile for me either...
21:34 < minto> morfoh: Are you there?
21:34 < karasz> still waiting for the experts...
21:37 < minto> karasz: maybe you could download beta 3 from http://gsmp.tfh-berlin.de/mirror/t2/stable/2.1.0-beta3/desktop/
21:37 < minto> there is a subversion in there and apache as well.
21:38 < karasz> i wil try that too
21:38 < minto> Wait.
21:38 < karasz> just that rc1 seemd a better choise than beta3
21:39 < karasz> i am waiting
21:39 < karasz> :)
21:39 < karasz> nothing else to do
21:39 < minto> maybe I can get you just the T2 stuff without needing subversion.
21:39 < minto> I will do the subversion thing and tar it up for you.
21:39 < karasz> 10x
21:40 < minto> 10x?
21:41 < karasz> 10x=thanks
21:41 < minto> ahh

22:08 < karasz> i dont find /src/parse-config
22:08 < minto> I am afraid you lack some of the dependancies. It works over here.
22:08 < minto> Is gcc installed?
22:09 < karasz> gcc -v
22:09 < karasz> gcc version 3.4.3
22:09 < karasz> thread model: posix
22:11 < minto> Now I am realy stuck.
22:11 < minto> you first cd to /usr/src/t2-trunk and then executed ./scripts/Config ?
22:11 < karasz> it canot find scripts/parse-config
22:12 < karasz> yep
22:12 < karasz> error
22:12 < karasz> i was doing cd /scropts
22:12 < karasz> then ./Config
22:12 < minto> ahh, that's wrong
22:12 < karasz> now works
22:14 < karasz> i guess that it is making a new distro
22:14 < minto> not yet making
22:14 < minto> just configuring
22:14 < karasz> asking abt cpu and stuff
22:15 < minto> later you can make by doing ./scripts/Build-Target
22:15 < minto> set things to what you want to build.
22:15 < karasz> Cleaning up. Configuration finished
22:16 < karasz> should I ./scripts/Emerge-Pkg mc?
22:16 < minto> include -cfg as well.
22:17 < minto> with the same name as before ofcoarse
22:17 < karasz> I did ./scripts/Config
22:17 < minto> ./scripts/EmergePkg -cfg mc
22:17 < karasz> it didnt ask for a name
22:17 < minto> okay leave out -cfg then. No -cfg is same as -cfg default
22:18 < minto> You now have ./confib/default directory
22:18 < minto> Before building you should first download.
22:18 < minto> ./scripts/Download mc
22:18 < karasz> I did ./scripts/Emerge-Pkg mc?
22:18 < karasz> now ots testing sites
22:18 < minto> I can't build without the sources.
22:19 < minto> Ohh, I think Emerge automatically downloads too.
22:19 < karasz> i guess you are right
22:19 < karasz> :)
22:19 < karasz> chile is down
22:19 < morfoh> but if this were rc1 minimal install before, you should use a rc1 or 2.1-branch source tree for upgrading the system
22:19 < minto> pending on where you are it is slow as well.
22:20 < karasz> easter europe
22:20 < minto> pending = depending
22:20 < karasz> easter europe =eastern europe
22:20 < minto> Berlin is probably fastest
22:20 < karasz> 19497.00
22:20 < karasz> seconds?
22:20 < valentin> hi
22:21 < morfoh> hi valentin
22:21 < valentin> hi morfoh king
22:21 < karasz> hi
22:21 < minto> hi morfoh, valentin
22:21 < valentin> hi karasz minto all
22:22 < minto> cheers for karasz. He is running t2 now.
22:22 < valentin> karasz: when doing Emerge in a very outdated system you should add -deps=none
22:22 < valentin> ah, the t2 is new
22:22 < karasz> pmmx rc1
22:22 < karasz> iso
22:22 < minto> minimal
22:22 < karasz> very minimal :)
22:23 < minto> valentin: how does he get subversion installed into a minimal system?
22:23 < morfoh> Emerge subversion perhaps ?
22:24 < valentin> for example, yes
22:24 < minto> Yes, but I had to tar up a trunk for him to be able to do that.
22:24 < valentin> he could also install a binary
22:24 < morfoh> karasz: you should just emerge subversion and the checking out the right tree ... if you want to use the stable version not the dev version
22:24 < valentin> karasz: you could also download a precompiled subversion client from svn.exactcode.de
22:25 < valentin> we have precompiled client-only packages for subversion there
22:25 < karasz> I couldn't do anything before minto's tar
22:25 < minto> Ohh, is there
22:25 < minto> Maybe I should have given him a 2.1 stable instead of trunk
22:26 < valentin> http://svn.exactcode.de/clients/
22:26 < karasz> now i fave mc
22:26 < minto> I have to remember that one.
22:26 < karasz> yuuppiiieeee!
22:26 < karasz> is ot mc-light?
22:26 < karasz> is it mc-light?
22:27 < valentin> do not think so
22:27 < valentin> should be this one:
22:27 < valentin> http://mc.linuxinside.com/Releases/mc-4.1.40-pre9.tar.bz2
22:28 < karasz> that's mc-light
22:28 < karasz> much better than the old mc from the gnome team
22:28 < valentin> i did not know it is a light version ?!
22:28 < karasz> slim and fast
22:28 < valentin> it is called mc, so what :)
22:28 < minto> if light is without xorg support it is.
22:28 < karasz> actualy it is not light version
22:28 < karasz> its without X
22:28 < valentin> oh
22:28 < karasz> slim and fast
22:29 < minto> package says so
22:29 < karasz> just the way I like it
22:29 < valentin> :D
22:29 < minto> karasz: package matrix is your friend if you want to know package details.
22:29 < minto> http://www.t2-project.org/packages/mc.html
22:29 < minto> For all supported packages.
22:31 < karasz> oki, now for the desktop
22:31 < karasz> I did ./scripts/Emerge-Pkg what?
22:31 < karasz> ./scripts/Emerge-Pkg what?
22:32 < karasz> is there a meta package?
22:32 < minto> meta package = target
22:33 < minto> in config you can specify target to be build.
22:33 < karasz> i did that
22:33 < minto> but you can also Emerge a whole package repository.
22:33 < karasz> i chose descktop
22:33 < karasz> now buildtarget?
22:33 < minto> use --help on T2 commands to get help on the commands.
22:34 < minto> to build your target you need to download first.
22:34 < minto> ./scripts/Download -required
22:34 < minto> This may take a while. Then
22:34 < minto> ./scripts/Build-Target
22:35 < karasz> but it says that it wil store them in tarbal format for distribution
22:35 < minto> Build-Target does not automatic downloading.
22:37 < minto> I would first build the target
22:37 < karasz> i did ./scripts/Downolad -required
22:37 < minto> If anything goes wrong you have the built distro to reinstall the whole thing.
22:37 < karasz> ?
22:38 < minto> the downloaded isos are created that way.
22:38 < karasz> i didnt understand that
22:38 < karasz> If anything goes wrong you have the built distro to reinstall the whole thing. ???
22:38 < minto> If you create your own iso. Then it is easier to recover is anyting goes wrong.
22:38 < karasz> aham
22:38 < karasz> ok
22:39 < karasz> thanks a lot minto & team
22:39 < minto> You are welcome.
22:39 < karasz> now downloading required
22:39 < karasz> be back on monday with update
22:39 < minto> for desktop target it will take a while.
22:39 < karasz> be back on monday with update
22:39 < minto> cu karasz
22:39 < karasz> cu all
22:39 < karasz> bye

22:42 < minto> valentin or morfoh: still there?
22:42 < morfoh> yep
22:43 < minto> minimal build fails since udev and hotplug++ is missing
22:43 < minto> I tried adding udev, but now it complains hotplug++ is missing
22:43 < minto> I can add that as well, but what if 2.4 kernels are used instead of 2.6
22:44 < valentin> hm, that is rxr's domain
22:45 < valentin> with our current version of 24 there is no udev...
22:45 < morfoh> minto: I guess it will not work on 2.4 ... but dunno regarding udev on 2.4
22:45 < minto> I was afraid so, but right now 2.6 is not compiling.
22:46 < minto> not in minimal that is.
22:47 < minto> I will add hotplug++ and if it works I will add a patch to the trac issue I created.
22:47 < minto> This might make it easier for rxr.
23:23 < minto> Time to hit the sheets, gn8 guys
