08:15 < minto> hi all
08:20 < rxr> good morning minto ,-)!
08:21 < minto> Hi rxr, how do I check out 2.1.0-rc1?
08:21 < minto> I wanne give the minimal a go.
08:31 < rxr> svn co http://svn.exactcode.de/t2/tags/2.1.0-rc1
08:31 < minto> thanx
08:33 < rxr> don't forget to apply the gcc workaround ,-)
08:33 < minto> Good you mention it.
08:51 < minto> Huh, segmentation fault?
08:52 < minto> When starting ./scripts/Config I end up with:
08:52 < minto> Creating configuration script.
08:52 < minto> T2 2.1.0-rc1 configuration ...
08:52 < minto> ./scripts/Config: line 118: 5387 Segmentation fault (core dumped) "$0" -cfg $config $oldconfig $profile $nobashmod -cycle
08:52 < minto> This is in 2.1, trunk seems to do fine.
09:06 < rxr> ehrm
09:06 < rxr> got a one month contract right now ...
09:07 < rxr> to be i the swizerland for the next 2 weeks or so - and the remaining time here ...
09:07 < rxr> minto: hm
09:19 < minto> rxr: Looks interesting. What is the contract about?
09:30 < rxr> scanner stuff ...
09:30 < rxr> ... though the stuff that usually brings some headache with it ...
09:31 < rxr> minto: did you run Config in the 64 bit system or the 32 one ?
09:43 < minto> Uhmm, how can I find out?
09:47 < minto> rxr: Uhh, I was wrong the same error in trunk
09:48 < minto> I booted the machine with the default kernal. This is the 64 bit one, isn't it?
09:56 < rxr> hm - strange - the Config worked when we used it ...
09:56 < rxr> maybe you setup remote login via ssh so I could investigate why it segfaults now ...
09:57 < minto> rxr: Just finished the default build (that works) but specifiying a new target doesn't.
09:58 < minto> this is strange
09:58 < minto> ./scripts/Config works
09:58 < minto> ./scripts/Config -cfg Desktop does not work
09:58 < minto> rxr: I tried setting up the remote stuff yesterday but it did not yet work.
09:59 < minto> I have use dyndns now multimach.dyndns.org
09:59 < minto> pinging works, but opening the right port did not.

11:48 < lars__> hi rene, are you online?
11:49 < lars__> hi anybody else there? I have a question concerning kernel build.
11:49 < valentin> hi lars__
11:50 < morfoh> hi lars
11:50 < morfoh> hi valentin
11:50 < valentin> but i have little time to answer :(
11:50 < valentin> how is your family ?
11:50 < valentin> rene is at gravis
11:50 < lars__> OK, an old topic of mine: I need the kernel srcs to build some 3rd party modules. Is there a way to build the kernel without automatically deleting the srcs after a succesfull build?
11:51 < lars__> hi valentin! My family is fine and yours? How many persons are you?
11:51 < valentin> the best way would be to create a t2 package for the modules with postlinux.conf ,)
11:51 < valentin> two and a half
11:52 < lars__> A when do you expect the sixth half?
11:52 < valentin> there is some chance that our daughter will be early, but we do not expect her in the next week
11:52 < valentin> offical date is July, 27
11:52 < valentin> congrats to your new daughter
11:53 < valentin> K. said, she looks quite like you
11:54 < lars__> thanks. Ok good luck to you, enjoi your time beeing only 4 halfs. We in that went at freiluftkino every evening. Since then (nearly two years ago) I have been in cinema only for 1 time...
11:55 < lars__> back to the kernel thing: I can not build a t2 package since its the cisco vpnc client which is closed src, I think.
11:55 < valentin> hm
11:55 < valentin> and why don't you just extract the kernel sources ?
11:56 < lars__> Because I would first need to find out the exact t2 revision that corresponds to my kernel src and than do all the patches by and and then create the t2 kernel conf by hand ...
11:56 < morfoh> lars__ / valentin ... ack If I have to do this kind of work I just extract the kernel sources from the download dir
11:58 < valentin> i do not know of hand if we have a kernel source quirk somewhere in t2
11:58 < lars__> by the way I would like to update my kernel and it would be fine to do that in one step: first build the kernel together with all the t2 configuration and postlinux.conf stuff and then simply use that srcs to build the needed none t2 stuff...
12:00 < lars__> Would it be difficult to include an option to install the kernel srcs or at least any option to Build-Pkg telling t2 to not remove the srcs after a successfull build (just as in the case of a build failure)?
12:00 < valentin> as a quick hack insert a postinstall hook that aborts the build, then you have the kernel sources lying around
12:02 < valentin> but i agree there should be an option to create a real kernel src package
12:02 < lars__> How do I do that? Is there a corresponding section in the handbook or a package from where I can copy?
12:05 < valentin> ook_add postinstall 3 /bin/false
12:05 < valentin> hook_add postinstall 3 /bin/false
12:05 < valentin> or something like that
12:05 < lars__> such a kernel src option would be fine. I remember, when I had to play arround a lot with the kernel because of some problem with my ibook hardware and it was very annoying that every time all prebuild srcs were removed and needed to be rebuild again and again...
12:05 < valentin> though i do not know of hand if custom hooks work in the kernel's custmain
12:06 < valentin> maybe you discuss that with rene when he is back
12:06 < valentin> how is your job doing ?
12:08 -!- minto [~chatzilla@82-217-66-7.cable.quicknet.nl] has joined #t2
12:09 < lars__> At the moment its a lot of c++ coding. In 10 days I will be on a summerschool in lipari (sicilia) for two weeks. Until then I hope to finish that coding job. At the late summer there are paper deadlines. In august we are in Berlin for some days. Maybe we can meet then. How is your thesis going?
12:09 < lars__> In what file I have to add that hook_add? linux26.desc: [O] hook_add ...?
12:10 < morfoh> lars__: no ... mostly on *.conf files
12:11 < valentin> yes, hooks go into conf files
12:11 < lars__> so I choose linux24.conf since it is included by linux26.desc via [O]?
12:11 < valentin> would be nice to meet you in Berlin
12:11 < valentin> for the moment, yes
12:12 < lars__> yes, that is going to be a "kindskick"!
12:13 < valentin> when will you be here in Aug ?
12:14 < morfoh> .oO( mnemoc and me need more help regarding the 2.1-rc* fixing the known issues ) -> http://t2.geeks.cl/regressions/stable/regressions.html
12:15 < lars__> valentin: We are on a wedding in Berlin at 20. August. Before we plan to be in vacations. Maybe we attach some vacation days in Berlin after 20th of August.
12:16 < valentin> the later the better for us :)
12:16 < valentin> btw: stefan got a child, too
12:16 < valentin> now he leaves work before 20:00
12:17 < lars__> Who, stefan hougardy. You mean the child already knows how it father looks like?
12:17 < valentin> yes, stefan h, my boss
12:18 < valentin> he did not even tell ms. Sandig
12:18 < lars__> How is your thesis doing? You started to work on it? When shall I look for jobs for you here in Saarbruecken?
12:18 < valentin> don't ask. atm i am helping martin to finish his thesis and we are trying to get some papers out together
12:19 < valentin> i do not fear my thesis but i still did not finish my physics preparation and i will not register to the examn before my daughter is born
12:20 < lars__> papers? sounds good. its the best way to get an interessting at a research instituation. I would propose to look for jobs at the mpi in Saarbruecken. There is a free aparment in our house :-)
12:20 < valentin> hehe
12:21 < valentin> the biggest problem is, kerstin needs to finish here in Berlin now
12:21 < valentin> and Saarbruecken is far far away
12:22 < valentin> but i like S. very much
12:22 < valentin> and we plan to move away from this house before our child gets too old
12:23 < lars__> And there are a lot of jobs in your field here in Saarbruecken and the weather is hot and you can by good chees in france and there is a lot of good wine here and your child will learn french at the kindergarden... I have to go for lunch now. and our sysadmin wants to reboot the router... greetings to kerstin!
12:23 < valentin> ok, cu lars__
12:23 < lars__> bye.

13:33 < minto> rxr: Are you still here?
13:34 < morfoh> hi minto
13:34 < minto> hi morfoh
13:35 < morfoh> minto: I think rxr is away "visiting" Gravis for repairing the case of his iBook
13:35 < minto> Ahh, maybe you could check something for me?
13:35 < morfoh> maybe ;)
13:35 < morfoh> what should I check ?
13:36 < minto> Could you click http://multimach.dyndns.org
13:36 < minto> What do you get?
13:36 < morfoh> na apache default page
13:36 < morfoh> an
13:36 < minto> Jippee, thanks
13:36 < morfoh> that was all ?
13:37 < morfoh> so you have configured dyndns ;)
13:37 < minto> Yepp, I wanted to check if port forwarding on my router was set up properly.
13:37 < minto> Yes that too.
13:37 < morfoh> is that you Dual Opteron box ;)
13:37 < minto> I need it to give rxr remote access to my opteron box.
13:37 < morfoh> hehe :D
13:38 < morfoh> I'M fighting with spamassassin right now :/
13:38 < minto> Yuck.
13:38 < morfoh> the issue isn't solved so far on all trees in t2 :(
13:39 < morfoh> it builds manually but fails using the t2 build system
13:39 < morfoh> and I can't figure out the problem ...
13:39 < minto> I had these kind of problems with binary packages once.
13:40 < morfoh> we need to fix our last regressions from mnemocs rc1 ref build
13:40 < morfoh> to proceed with our release schedule
13:40 < minto> I could give a hand, but the opteron box refuses to create a new config.
13:41 < morfoh> 15 packages to fix ... I think we should shift some capacities from trunk development to fixing the rc's
13:43 < minto> If my box is ready for it, I plan to build x86-64
13:44 < minto> I plan to start with a 2.1 minimal followed by 2.1.0 rc1 desktop :-)
13:44 < morfoh> :D
13:44 < morfoh> good
13:45 < minto> The minimal things we build so far where ready in a few hours when build from scratch.
13:46 < morfoh> ok ... I'm running a rc1 ref build too -> 5-thunderbird atm
13:46 < minto> how lond does rc1 ref build roughly take?
13:47 < morfoh> it depends on the machine of course
13:47 < morfoh> and in my case also on the stability of the machine :/
13:47 < morfoh> the P4 I'm building on isn't that stable
13:47 < minto> :-(
13:48 < morfoh> indeed ...
13:48 < morfoh> it freezed again last night
13:48 < morfoh> 1628 builds total, 671 completed fine, 2 with errors.
13:48 < morfoh> but one error I fixed yesterday
13:48 < minto> If all goes well I could build both x86-64 and x86.
13:49 < morfoh> the other one is spamassassin
13:49 -!- CIA-12 [~CIA@flapjack.navi.cx] has quit [Excess Flood]
13:49 -!- CIA-9 [~CIA@flapjack.navi.cx] has joined #t2
13:49 < minto> Unfortunately I have to turn this jumbo jet of at night.
13:49 < morfoh> ah .... in fact it's no rc1 ref build ... it's a 2.1 branch
13:50 < morfoh> so the upcoming rc2
13:52 < minto> morfoh? What would you use if you want to give an embedded solution a web interface?
13:52 < morfoh> hmmm ... ??? I don't like web interfaces that much ...
13:53 < morfoh> do you need an out of the box solution ?
13:53 < morfoh> I consider webmin as quite harmful
13:53 < minto> How would you configure something embedded then?
13:53 < morfoh> it depends on the application
13:54 < minto> I was thinking of something small.
13:54 < morfoh> what do want to configure ?
13:54 < minto> It is for my backup/fileserver solution.
13:54 < morfoh> ah ok ... this one you told me about
13:54 < rxr> hi
13:55 < rxr> rehi
13:55 < rxr> back from iBook repair and lunch
13:55 < minto> There is not much to configure. But setting static IP addresses sort of stuff.
13:55 < minto> Hi rxr, port forwarding (of my router) worked after all.
13:55 < morfoh> re hi rxr
13:56 < rxr> hi minto and morfoh
13:56 < morfoh> minto: you can write a small cgi application running on fnord or gatling
13:56 < minto> Now I have to wait for Merlyn to wake up before I can turn on the noisy box again.
13:56 < minto> I will have a look at these two.
13:57 < minto> thanks
13:57 < morfoh> ah but ... fnord isn't in our repo atm
13:57 < morfoh> but I think I have it on my local working copy
13:59 < morfoh> rxr: regarding the known spamassassin problem -> https://trac.t2-project.org/ticket/5 ... I can build it manually from the src dir without segfaulting
14:00 < rxr> hm - but manually without debug.sh ?
14:00 < rxr> since with debug as in the sandbox it fails for me, too
14:02 < morfoh> hmmm ? .... I think the problem is sth. like a missing DESTDIR or so
14:02 < morfoh> but unfortunately all my last tests were not successful
14:03 < morfoh> rxr: how do you test it manually using debug.sh ?
14:12 < morfoh> rxr: what is a quick hack to disable all automagically injected makeopts ?
14:13 < morfoh> I tried makeopt="" but it didn't worked so far
14:20 < rxr> i guess a more fundamental problem
14:20 < rxr> I review after alsa
14:20 < rxr> right now I play with my new cell ...
14:20 < rxr> but I stop doing so in some minutes
14:20 < morfoh> ok
14:44 < rxr> we need a rocknet addition for bluetooth
14:57 < valentin> rxr: lars was here around noon
14:57 < rxr> oh! ?
14:57 < rxr> and ?
14:57 < rxr> btw. audio qaulity of mp3 copied from my iBook to the new cell is quite reasonable ...
14:59 < rxr> haha
14:59 < rxr> when one starts the media player the phone complains to insert the headset
15:00 < rxr> when I insert it and start the player and then remove the headset it continues to play thru the internal speak ...
15:00 < rxr> +er
15:00 < rxr> though the quality is not tooo good ...
15:00 < rxr> no wonder they want people to insert the headset first ...
15:06 < rxr> valentin: did you met lars or only heared he was there?
15:06 < rxr> any other news?
15:19 < minto> rxr: I think remote access is not possible now
15:19 < minto> try multimach.dyndns.org
15:20 < rxr> minto: yes - ack
15:20 < rxr> we should change the root passwd ,-)
15:21 < CIA-9> jsaw * r9919 /trunk/target/bootdisk/build_stage1.sh:
15:21 < CIA-9> * remove hardcoded number of inodes for mke2fs, otherwise
15:21 < CIA-9> initrd for linux 2.4 will not fit
15:21 < minto> yes, we should
15:21 < rxr> jsaw: this was an optimization to not waste too much space
15:21 < morfoh> minto: please announce the new one here or on th ML ;)
15:21 < minto> I tried creating an account for on the box.
15:21 < rxr> jsaw: please do not remove - but increate the no. slightly to make it fit again ..
15:21 < jsaw> rxr: I know, but initrd24 will not be created...
15:21 < morfoh> hi jsaw
15:21 < minto> morfoh: I will announce the old one once it is changed.
15:22 < jsaw> rxr: I don't think it matters as long as we don't hit the image size limits, we're still 2Mb or so away
15:22 < rxr> damn - the cell does not play some of my mp3s ...
15:22 < jsaw> hi morfoh
15:22 < rxr> jsaw: ok ,-)
15:23 < rxr> hm - strange it does
15:23 < rxr> just that I it ok a 2nd time on some ...
15:23 < jsaw> at least, the bootdisk is completely build now
15:23 < rxr> ah - no - know I understood the UI ... ,-)
15:24 < rxr> well - the quality of the mp3 player in this k750i is perfect ...
15:24 < rxr> just the included 64MB memory stick a bit small ... ,-)

15:35 < morfoh> rxr: aren't the BUILD-VARS not available while building perl stuff ?
15:35 < rxr> BUILD-VARS? of course they should be
15:35 < morfoh> I try to append $root but it doesn't work inject the right path
15:35 < rxr> though some perl based stuff that runs a makefile from a perl script will not use the of course
15:35 < rxr> what do you track right now?
15:35 < morfoh> spamassassin :/

15:37 < rxr> after investigating my new cell I look at wine and spamassassin now
15:37 < morfoh> ok ...
15:38 < morfoh> we've to fix these damn regressions from mnemocs last ref build quickly
15:39 < morfoh> rxr: ok ... then I'll try to fix kaffeine
15:40 < morfoh> it failed due to some shared file (icons) with kaxtv ...
15:41 < veki> hi
15:41 < veki> I tried to build kaffeine and it failed

15:50 < veki> ok, I am not planning to watch TV anyway in my life. TV is unhealthy. It should be written as on each cigar box that TV program maycause serious mental disorder and brain bugs

19:29 < morfoh> mipe: what radius did you changed ? and what kind of changes you had done ?
19:29 < kgb> i need to finish nested-targets ASAP
19:30 < mipe> morfoh: mainly database rework, we needed tickets to go alot of places(diffrent servers) and they didnt want a tool to do that, so we changed radius itself
19:30 < mipe> and some report work was done too
19:31 < kgb> that can be just a target/mipe-radius/pkg_freeradius-tickets.patch
19:31 < mipe> yep

19:32 < kgb> i _didnt_ update dietlibc on rc1!
