00:00 < mnemoc> http://t2.geeks.cl/regressions/stable/regressions.html
00:01 < mnemoc> not to bad yet
00:02 < rxr> seahorse is depanding
00:02 < rxr> configure: error: GPGME 1.0.0 or later needed
00:02 < mnemoc> yep
00:03 < rxr> priority
00:03 < rxr> try 158.000
00:03 < mnemoc> X -----5---- 150.500 gnome2 seahorse 0.7.6 / extra/security extra/desktop/gnome 0
00:03 < mnemoc> X -----5---- 157.000 security gpgme 1.0.2 / extra/crypto 0
00:03 < rxr> on seahorse
00:03 < mnemoc> nothing depends on seahorse?
00:03 < rxr> doubt so
00:03 < rxr> valentin: we need .cache based graph generation
00:04 < valentin> tell me exactly how to handle loops and i'll implement that
00:04 < rxr> mnemoc will soon have more valid .cache files with my noise reduction applied - if you would have some spare nights we would like some static prority to graph construction in 2.2 ,-)
00:04 < valentin> some month ago i had a discussion with mnemoc and jsaw
00:04 < valentin> we decided to resolve loops this way:
00:04 < mnemoc> about?
00:05 < rxr> let's wait what the updated .cache files will bring - and then let's take a new look at those graphs ...
00:05 < valentin> if one package in the loop is build in a stage with lower priority, that package is assumed to be there already
00:05 < rxr> sound good
00:05 < rxr> but in addition I would like to get rid of most of this stage mismatch ...
00:06 < valentin> so you can schedule that package for rebuild at latest
00:06 < mnemoc> seahorse resheduled
00:06 < rxr> let's plot the resulting graph and decide then
00:06 < valentin> rxr: sounds good too - mnemoc will kick you if you do this for 2.2 :)
00:06 < mnemoc> :)
00:07 < rxr> well - some some "state-of-the-art" can be applied to 2.2 ,-)
00:07 < mnemoc> 2.2 @ 2007?
00:08 < rxr> lol no
00:08 < rxr> mnemoc: just good graph generation is mostly implementing a real Create-PkgQueue
00:09 < rxr> revisiting the stages into a saner model is less than a week of work
00:09 < valentin> mnemoc: then 2.2 will be named after my secound child :)
00:09 < rxr> + porting Emerge-Pkg to the graph builder ...
00:09 < mnemoc> everything depends on how you inject this state-of-the-art technique
00:09 < mnemoc> valentin: or rene's :)
00:10 < valentin> rxr: i would propose saving dependencies for all stages the package is build in.
00:10 < valentin> where all is just one of the two remaining :)

00:17 < Mech> Did you guys hear about the JasperReports accquistion ?
00:20 < valentin> jasper reports ? wasn't that an oss product ?
00:20 < rxr> n8 all
00:20 < rxr> cu
00:20 < valentin> cu rxr
00:23 < Mech> valentin: yeah - it appears it was a 1 man job..
00:23 < Mech> valentin: so a company called panosophic accquired the rights to it.
00:23 < Mech> anyway, it appears it got Venture Capital firms in the US interested in finding other 'hidden gems' in Open Source
00:24 < Mech> 3 of them contacted my boss to see if we could present a list of OSS projects with commercial potential and small number of commiters
00:24 < Mech> if they sign off on the contract, we'll be evaluating and recommending projects to them.
00:26 < Mech> if you know of any projects that fit the criteria, and might be interested in getting some backing - let me know and I'll add them to the list :-)
00:26 < Mech> (hehe - in case it isn't obvious by now, I'm basically a 'research monkey' :-P - I play with everything, master nothing :-P )
00:27 < valentin> what would be the result for the project that is on the list ?
00:29 < Mech> maybe nothing ... but it would at least get _looked at_ by some Venture Capital groups with money to spend
00:30 < Mech> can't guarantee that they'll actually do anything for a particular project - but it is a good opportunity to get some visability
00:30 < Mech> anyway, it will probably take 2 weeks to get the contracts signed and stuff - so no hurry
00:46 < valentin> i wish you all a good night - cu.
00:47 < Mech> g'nite :-)

16:25 < mipe> fc4 sets it to 0,but whats the real default or good size for it?
16:28 < rxr> I think ours is also 0 ...
16:28 < rxr> the reasonable default depends whether it is a single or multi user environment or server ...
16:29 < rxr> e.g. on desktop systems I consider changing the default location from current working directory, to /tmp/$processname... so they do not populate the disk but are automatically cleaned on bootup ...
