Where can I configure that? 11:44 < rxr> t2 should enable anything it can as module 11:45 < rxr> additional quirks, e.g. "force on" go into architecture/share/ker* 11:45 < rxr> e.g. kernel-common.conf.m4 11:46 < rxr> of course there are other way of kernel config, target's can define their config, and you could use scripts/Config and enable custom kernel config and add the WACOM, but I think it would be better to tweak the defaults to build the module as needed 11:47 < rogermas`> Thanks. I assume that kernel-common.conf.m4 is used when running Emerge as well as Build-target 11:48 < rxr> yes, it is used for the "automatic configuration with as many options as kernel modules" default linux kernel config builds 11:50 < rogermas`> Another question, hope you don't mind. Is it possible to build more than one kernel (different versions) using Build-target? 11:51 < rxr> easily only by copying the kernel package under a different name, e.g. linux24, linux26 linux26mips, ... 11:51 < rxr> target can apply script glue to build really different versions under one name though 11:52 < rxr> but most targets only go for one carefully reviewed version with maintenance anyway, think DVR, cellphone, etc. 11:54 < rogermas`> I was thinking of the situation on my imac, where 36.3 does not boot. It would be good to have another version to fall back on. 12:14 < rxr> when you emerge or update from binares the old kernel files stay around 12:14 < rxr> so when a user installed with a given working kernel he will kep that files maintained inside the linux26 kernel package even on update 12:15 < rxr> until they are deleted manually 12:30 -!- digitaloktay [~arch@mvl.eventualis.org] has quit [Quit: Bin mol weg longer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!] 12:49 < rogermas`> Ah good. Thanks. 17:07 < rogermas`> If I want to install a package from a *.tar.bz2 file, all I need to do is copy the tarball to the target machine and unpack it in / right? 17:25 < rxr> you can, it is better to use the mine utility though 17:25 < rxr> for example it will merge the flists 17:25 < rxr> mine -i tarball # IIRC 17:25 < rxr> tar will just override the old flist 17:44 -!- T-One [~T-One@194.183.141.242] has quit [Quit: Verlassend] 18:40 < rogermas`> I just tried mine -i with gimp-2.6.8.tar.bz2 (after running mine -r on the target machine). When I try to start gim I get a message that gimp can't run with a libgimp verion other than its own. I'm guessing mine -r did not remove all the gimp files. 18:42 < rxr> does an ldconfig help? 18:42 < rxr> running it, ... 18:42 < rxr> gimp was build with the same $prefix ? 19:16 < rogermas`> yes, same prefix 19:17 < rogermas`> ldconfig does not help 19:24 < rxr> does it work on box 1 then? 19:24 < rxr> maybe some gimp build issue? 20:13 < rogermas`> I'm trying to find a version of gimp that does not crash when opening a file. I was hoping to avoid having to Build-Target different gimp versions then burn a usb stick. 23:34 -!- orici [~quassel@2001:470:9a41:107:20c:29ff:fea4:8189] has joined #t2 --- Log closed Tue Feb 15 00:00:06 2011
