18:03 < rogermason> hello.
18:06 < rogermason> I'm trying to get a usb printer setup on x86, trunk using cups. When I try to configure cups the option to select a usb printer does not appear. It may be related to the setting of CONFIG_USB_PRINTER in the kernel. Where should I look to check the current setting of that option?

18:06 < rxr> maybe it is just permissions
18:06 < rxr> rogermason: do you get some /dev/...*usb*lp* ?
18:07 < rxr> /dev/usb/lp0 or what it was named in recent days, ...
18:07 -!- arete74 [~arete74@151.56.28.88] has joined #t2
18:07 < rxr> or just /dev/usblp0, whatever :-)
18:07 < arete74> hi rxr
18:10 < rogermason> rxr: crw-rw---- 1 root lp 180, 0 Jan 5 06:42 /dev/usb/lp0
18:17 < rxr> guess cups is not running as root or in the lp group?
18:20 < arete74> hi rxr, thanks for update t2 trunk to udev 165
18:21 < arete74> i now test this build on my qemu enviroment and next step is build an complete desktop system
18:22 < rxr> I'm not yet sure if it works 100% correct though
18:22 < rxr> let me knowif you spot another glith, ...
18:23 < arete74> i try a build and run an complete x64 system for desktop and server
18:25 < arete74> if udev update work fine, the next my action is build an desktop system without hal for x86 architecture and arm
18:27 < rxr> just be wanrned that I expected one or the other udev hiccup to be fixed
18:27 < rxr> doubt such a major update and new dietlibc syscalls all work flawlessly right now
18:28 < arete74> rxr was is the todo list for rhenext t2 release?
18:28 < rxr> puh, TODO list is always too long
18:28 < rxr> http://www.t2-project.org/releases/
18:29 < rxr> it mostly boils down to what I, you, he, she, it needs next
18:29 < rxr> guess I'll further publish the udev warning noise and the installer media pickup and publish a new release from the current trunk sometime soon
18:31 < arete74> i use t2 for build the my desktop ....
18:31 < rxr> yeah, me too, and all our servers
18:31 < arete74> i have the issue with device permission , cups, and bluethoot
18:31 < arete74> i fixe this problem in this month
18:32 < arete74> next i test to build and t2 system for server and for embededd devices(beagleboard)
18:32 < arete74> bye
18:34 < rxr> have fun
19:17 < rogermason> rxr: cups daemon runs as root but there is no cups user
19:23 < rxr> then I guess cups is looking for other device names or such
19:23 < rxr> I have not used usb printer in the last years, some 5y ago it used to work, ...
