10:04 < CIA-32> rene * r37759 /trunk/package/mail/dovecot/dovecot.desc: * updated dovecot (2.0.4 -> 2.0.5)
11:21 < rogermason> hello.
11:24 < rogermason> rxr: do you know what must be done to generate gir files?
11:24 < rxr> I guess the problem is that the minimal selection did not include gobject-introspection, so that some base packages get buidl without the gir files
11:25 < rxr> hm, on the other hand the 50-minimal-desktop includes it
11:25 < rxr> anyway, the git files come from packages using gobject-introspecton to generate them (IIRC)
11:28 < CIA-32> rene * r37760 /trunk/package/develop/llvm/ (include-paths.patch llvm.conf llvm.desc): * updated llvm (2.7 -> 2.8)
11:28 < rogermason> I have _some_ gir files in /opt/gnome2/share/gir-1.0, so some packages know how to make them.
11:29 < rxr> I can only guess that gobject-introspection was not available when you build the other packages where you miss the gir files
11:30 < rxr> you could simply rebuild them (Emerge-Pkg -deps=none -force ...)
11:30 < rxr> should probably give you the gir files
11:32 < rogermason> Well, I did rebuild pango yesterday, after gobject-introspection was already present, so i think that pango build needs something added. I'll open up one of the packages for which a gir file was built and perhaps find how it is done.
11:36 < rxr> maybe it already needs gir files from other packages it depends on ?
11:36 < rxr> you probably find something in it's /var/adm/logs/9-pango.log
11:40 < rogermason> just looked in cairo (which generated a gir file). there's a ChangeLog entry:
11:40 < rogermason> Add cairo-gobject library
11:40 < rogermason> This library is supposed to contain GType declarations for Cairo types.
11:40 < rogermason> It is also meant to support gobject-introspection binding creation.
11:41 < rogermason> you were right, 9-pango.log says: checking for gobject-introspection... no
11:42 < rogermason> which means its configure did not find it.
12:14 < rxr> does it pick it up on rebuild?
12:14 < rxr> http://www.t2-project.org/packages/vblade.html
12:15 < rogermason> no
12:23 < rogermason> there is a patch that _might_ bear on the problem here: http://bugzilla-attachments.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=171308 but it won't apply.
12:45 < rogermason> looks like those patches are already in the dist.
