14:11 < rogermason> have you had a chance to look at glibc on ppc64?
14:18 <@rxr> mips64 kept me busy :-)
14:18 <@rxr> and I had some ext. meetings yesterday, ...
14:18 <@rxr> will fix that now :-)
14:22 <@rxr> where did you got it, 0-glibc ?
14:22 < rogermason> 09/25/10 09:40:13 =[1]=> Aborted building package glibc32.
14:23 <@rxr> oh, then I got another than you
14:23 <@rxr> due new make, ...
14:24 <@rxr> I'll fix mine first and hope to hit the same glibc32 then, ...
14:36 < rogermason> That is odd. I get the same error with make 3.81 and 3.82.
14:37 <@rxr> I think due to some error you already downgraded make?
14:37 <@rxr> was tha linux-header or so?
14:38 < CIA-32> rene * r37696 /trunk/package/base/linux-header/ (make-3.82.patch make.patch): * renamed linux-header/make.patch to make-3.82.patch
14:38 <@rxr> can you post your error message (again)?
14:42 < CIA-32> rene * r37697 /trunk/package/base/glibc/make-3.82.patch: * fixed glibc for make-3.82, likewise
14:42 <@rxr> so, now my native G5 build continues
14:42 <@rxr> btw. you installed hte 8.0 iso, right?
14:42 <@rxr> (on the G5)
14:58 < rogermason> I'm building trunk on G5 for G5 with downloaded 8.0 iso.
15:00 < rogermason> I had an error on linux header that was because I'd upgraded make 3.81 to 3.82 as a side effect of building cracklib from trunk. I downgraded make to 3.81 and linux-header built. I then got the glibc error with make-3.81 and I just verified that I get the same error with 3.82. Error follows:
15:02 < rogermason> ../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/readv.c: In function '__libc_readv':
15:02 < rogermason> ../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/readv.c:45:26: error: argument 'vector' doesn't match prototype
15:02 < rogermason> ../include/sys/uio.h:7:16: error: prototype declaration
15:02 < rogermason> ../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/readv.c: At top level:
15:02 < rogermason> ../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/readv.c:71:32: error: conflicting types for 'readv'
15:02 < rogermason> ../misc/sys/uio.h:40:16: note: previous declaration of 'readv' was here
15:02 < rogermason> there is a similar error for writev.c
15:02 <@rxr> ok, sounds like fun
15:03 <@rxr> should hit that soon
15:03 <@rxr> btw. what kind of g5 do you have ?
15:03 < rogermason> i looked at this yesterday and today, ut I can't see what is wrong
15:04 < rogermason> i have not found the error via google either.

15:06 <@rxr> ok, got an 11,2
15:06 <@rxr> is that an aluminium tower, or iMac?
15:07 < rogermason> aluminum tower. beautiful.
15:07 < rogermason> and I got it for free.
15:22 <@rxr> oh?
15:23 <@rxr> lucky you, how's that?
15:27 < rogermason> In my department people tend to turn over computers every 1 or 2 years. The get left with out IT guy. I go and ask if he has any machines. I have only bought one computer in the last 10 years (my laptop). All the 15 or 20 in my collection are freebies, including the 19 inch aluminum iMac core 2 from which I'm sending this.
15:28 <@rxr> nice

16:56 <@rxr> rogermason: got the same error, will try to fix ASAP
17:21 < arete74> hi rene,
17:23 < rogermason> rxr: good. If you see what I mean.
17:26 <@rxr> should have a fix
17:26 <@rxr> commit in some minutes when double checked
17:27 < arete74> i have build correct an system with udev 162
17:28 <@rxr> ?
17:28 < arete74> i now test the build
17:29 <@rxr> you mean an udev update?
17:29 < arete74> yes,
17:29 <@rxr> did you do some patching?
17:30 <@rxr> because I know newer vanilla (unmodified) versions of udev will not build out of the box against dietlibc (for our initrd)
17:30 < arete74> for now i not have build udev with dietlibc
17:31 < arete74> i fix the init sequence with new udev.
17:31 < arete74> next step is buld udev with dietlibc
17:35 <@rxr> rogermason: tip from my side: for fixing such bugs it usually helps to review the preprocessor output, -E, and the macros defined -dM
17:42 < CIA-32> rene * r37698 /trunk/package/base/glibc/vector.patch: * fixed glibc for at least glibc32 on powerpc

18:05 < rogermason> rxr: is the -E and -dM output preserved in the error log?

20:09 <@rxr> rogermason: no, that is fot manually re-executibg the gcc invokation during debugging, ...
20:18 < cb88> gcc is failing in ./intl... for sparc32 .... also I seem to be getting blocked by the spam filter on the mailing list
20:20 < cb88> would putting some logs up in a pastebin be helpful?

20:34 < rogermason> rxr: Many thanks for the fix. My G5 is compiling contentedly now.
20:35 < rogermason> rxr: thanks for the clarification on -E.
