10:10 < gogonkt> hi brd :)

11:03 < koan> rxr: did mesa fail in your build?
11:04 <@rxr> yes
11:04 <@rxr> did you test with the revision before those xorg updates ?
11:04 < koan> yes and that failed too
11:04 <@rxr> oh?
11:05 <@rxr> I debug that now
11:13 <@rxr> heh
11:13 <@rxr> I do not know what all those folks drink and I want my micro-kernel :-(((
11:13 < koan> lol
11:14 <@rxr> that is not funny
11:14 <@rxr> beside the one huge mess that are monolithic kernels
11:14 <@rxr> this x.org driver arcitecture is just disgusting
11:15 <@rxr> no wonder X has so many problems with all those modules one has to create and redo work, sanity checking in, just to support a chip
11:15 < rogermason> Hello all.
11:16 < gogonkt> hello
11:16 <@rxr> hello
11:17 < rogermason> I looked in the package matrix and could not find MPI. Before I embark on adding it, is it already in T2?
11:19 <@rxr> don't think so either
11:19 < rogermason> OK. Quite a lot of sci codes can make use of it if installed.
11:20 < CIA-32> rene * r37183 /trunk/package/x11/mesa/hotfix.patch: * hot-fixed mesa to actually build (with some stray __atom macro defined)
11:21 <@rxr> koan: my mesa re-build is still ongoing, but that should have been it, ...
11:22 < koan> cool
11:23 <@rxr> guess I need to apply for some venture capital to get my rock solid os
11:24 < koan> :-)
11:24 <@rxr> == 09:18:54 =[5]=> Building x11/mesa [7.8.2 9.0-trunk].
11:24 <@rxr> == 08/12/10 09:25:09 =[5]=> Finished building package mesa.
11:25 < koan> nice, thanks!
11:40 <@rxr> looks like libxvmc also recently broke, likewise???
11:41 < koan> it builds here
11:41 <@rxr> oh, did?
11:41 <@rxr> on my big machine it build some days ago, too
11:41 <@rxr> but on the new test build it errored out :-(
11:42 < koan> it did yesterday, didn't try it today
11:42 <@rxr> guess some header update then
11:43 < koan> oh it was this morning: 08:52
11:46 <@rxr> so, unfollowed gruber, too much stray noise, ...
11:52 * rxr wonders why we recently need so many hotfixes
11:52 <@rxr> could blame the global warming, too
11:52 < CIA-32> rene * r37184 /trunk/package/xorg/libxvmc/hotfix.patch: * hot-fixed libxvmc, likewise
11:55 < rogermason> What category should I use for mpich2: Unknown package category: extra/develop
11:55 <@rxr> less misc/share/PKG-CATEGORIES
11:55 <@rxr> you can add a "ment" to your cat for a start
11:55 <@rxr> Error logs from minimal-xorg-9.0-trunk-generic-x86-atom-linux:

11:55 <@rxr> [5] xorg/xf86-video-via
11:55 <@rxr> 473 builds total, 470 completed fine, 3 with errors, 0 to go.
11:57 < koan> is vga still useful? isn't vesa the way to go as a failsafe driver?
11:57 <@rxr> guess the vga driver did only do 16 color anyway :-)
12:01 < koan> I'll probably only keep video drivers for common chipsets in my netbook target
12:01 <@rxr> aldas disabled those offending x drivers by default in the 8.0 branch already, ...
12:20 < CIA-32> rene * r37185 /trunk/package/graphic/vigra/vigra.desc: * updated vigra Download tag

12:28 < Baldzius> hey rxr
12:35 < CIA-32> rene * r37191 /trunk/package/network/curl/curl.desc: * updated curl (7.21.0 -> 7.21.1)
12:37 < rogermason> Hello again. Is there a means of disabling parallel make per package?
12:38 <@rxr> NOPARALLEL in the Flag tag
12:38 <@rxr> grep NOPARALLEL package/*/*/*.desc
12:40 < CIA-32> rene * r37192 /trunk/package/develop/hte/hte.desc:
12:40 < CIA-32> luisbf :
12:40 < CIA-32> * updated hte (2.0.17 -> 2.0.18)
12:41 < rogermason> Got it. Thanks. Now to see if that was the problem.
12:41 < CIA-32> rene * r37193 /trunk/package/audio/audiofile/ (audiofile.conf audiofile.desc):
12:41 < CIA-32> luisbf :
12:41 < CIA-32> * updated audiofile (0.2.6 -> 0.2.7)
13:25 < rogermason> I'm running into a problem getting mpich2 to emerge. The build fails with: gcc -o cpi cpi.o -lm
13:25 < rogermason> cpi.o: In function `main':
13:25 < rogermason> cpi.c:(.text+0x3f): undefined reference to `MPI_Init'
13:29 < rogermason> The file cpi.o is for testing, in an examples directory. When i run debug.sh then eval $MAKE $makeopts there is no call to gcc: ../bin/mpicc -o cpi cpi.o -lm. This works without error. There seems not to be a configure option to disable testing. Is there a way to tell T2 to use mpicc for this testing phase?
13:34 <@rxr> hm
13:34 <@rxr> that be some tricerky
13:34 <@rxr> guess our CC= is overriding it
13:34 <@rxr> maybe just patch the tests in the Makefile away completely, ...
13:34 <@rxr> or patch the makefile to use another variable then CC (or so)
13:37 < rogermason> So, the patching would be done after the configure stage? Or do I patch configure.in (or whatever it is called)?
13:38 <@rxr> I would probably patch the Makefile(.in)
13:38 <@rxr> the patching is done after unpacking before pretty much everything else
14:12 < CIA-32> rene * r37194 /trunk/package/base/cron/cron.conf:
14:12 < CIA-32> "Dmitry S. Vasilchenko" :
14:12 < CIA-32> * fixed cron crossbuild for systems without cron group and deterministic id in any case
15:25 < CIA-32> rene * r37195 /trunk/architecture/powerpc64/config.in: * updated powerpc64 CPU optimization options

17:14 < Baldzius> my ref build is at 140.000 :/
17:14 < Baldzius> 30 uncommited changes
17:15 < Baldzius> 4 lines in pkgsel
17:15 < Baldzius> not bad
17:32 < rogermason> Is it possible in T2 to have more than one kernel installed in a target (using Build-Target) or on a host (using Emerge-Pkg). I want to build a kernel with options to support TrueCrypt (my university mandates encryption on laptops).
17:33 <@rxr> you can copy the kernel under another name if you really need to different kernel
17:33 <@rxr> why not just one with truecrypt ß
17:35 < rogermason> because I like to have a known good kernel available as a fallback when I reconfigure.
17:36 < Baldzius> you can use cryptsetup
17:36 < Baldzius> works out of box
17:36 < Baldzius> there's howto
17:37 < Baldzius> http://old.nabble.com/-HOWTO--encrypted-swap-and-home-partitions-td26216785.html
17:37 < Baldzius> only / not supported
17:37 < Baldzius> and maybe tmp
17:37 < Baldzius> and maybe something else :)
17:38 < Baldzius> implemented for myself (home&swap)
17:38 < Baldzius> also if you upgrade kernel for newer version old one will be still left
17:40 < rogermason> baldzius: OK. I'll have a look at that. Many thanks
17:40 < Baldzius> it should be very easy
17:42 < rogermason> Easy. I like the sound of that (I know nothing about encryption).
17:46 < Baldzius> just read the docs and let me know if you have any questions
17:46 < Baldzius> support should be out of box
17:47 < Baldzius> the instructions are written in real env
17:47 < Baldzius> it was copy & paste

22:11 < rogermason> Baldzius: I got swap encrypted OK. Encrypting /home fails after I enter the passphrase: device-mapper: reload ioctl failed: Invalid argument
22:11 < rogermason> Using the same encryption algorith as for swap, so the modules are loaded.
