09:21 < jncneo> good morning!
09:21 < rxr> moin
09:22 < jncneo> need your help very much
09:23 < jncneo> i have a problem with coreutils in embedded target...
09:23 < rxr> oh oh
09:24 < jncneo> here is an error:
09:24 < jncneo> make[2]: Entering directory `/root/t2-trunk/src.coreutils.default.20090903.202021.8513.t2-build/coreutils-7.5/man'

09:24 < jncneo> help2man: can't get `--help' info from seq.td/seq
09:24 < jncneo> make[2]: *** [seq.1] Error 127
09:25 < jncneo> i've tyed to search info about this but had no result :(
09:25 < rxr> it's just about man pages
09:26 < rxr> maybe a too new or old help2man
09:26 < jncneo> is there any way just to ignore them?
09:26 < rxr> you can alway modify, patch a package to leave out stuff
09:26 < jncneo> in my target i have no need in man pages...
09:28 < jncneo> strange is that i was able to compile it in generic target..
09:30 < jncneo> and one more question: is there any way to add package to target after it started building?
09:30 < rxr> sure, just modify the pkgsel
09:31 < jncneo> and i don't need to start building from the begining it this case?
09:31 < rxr> well, if it's a regular package no
09:31 < rxr> if that is an optional dependency of some package you would probably, sometimes want to rebuild them to have this new dep
09:32 < jncneo> what do you mean: regular package?
09:32 < jncneo> ah! that
09:32 < rxr> a normal program, like bash or sed
09:32 < jncneo> thanks
09:32 < rxr> a library like libtiff or libalsa, or even libX11 will probably allow other packages to use it
09:42 < mpp> hey guys
09:42 < mpp> i am currently full indexing package sources
09:43 < mpp> lets see how my pc does with heavy duty db operations
09:43 < mpp> :-)
09:43 < jncneo> wow :)
09:43 < mpp> i kinda need this ...
09:43 < mpp> lot's of errors only get solved by knowing what's in the packets
09:44 < mpp> google has no way of doing this
09:44 < mpp> (who would have thought that)
09:44 < mpp> i already tried & kicked a dozen of search engines
09:45 < mpp> no joy there ...
09:45 < jncneo> strange..
09:45 < mpp> try it your self
09:45 < mpp> search for a phrase of an error you got
09:46 < mpp> and try figuring what package you should investigate further
09:46 < mpp> i mean the implication is clear
09:46 < jncneo> yesterday it gave no result :(
09:46 < mpp> full text indexing all gnu oss packages is way beyond the current computing capacity on the planet....
09:47 < mpp> indices explode
09:47 < mpp> the famous log(o(n)) stuff ....
09:47 < mpp> :-)
09:47 < jncneo> :)
09:47 < mpp> gee i had too much go playing today
09:47 < mpp> got my ass kicked once again
09:47 < mpp> :-(
09:48 < jncneo> lol :)
09:48 < mpp> how the hell do you get 2 be a 9d player
09:48 < mpp> heaven knows

09:57 < mpp> it is
09:57 < rxr> we have (way too many) speed limits these days
09:57 < mpp> as speed limits take over our beloved country :-)
09:57 < mpp> LOL
09:57 < jncneo> LOL
09:58 < rxr> I guess something like the US state Montanna or so we probably have fewer limits
09:58 < mpp> LOL

09:58 < jncneo> we have very stong speed limits...

10:02 < jncneo> not so bad...
10:02 < mpp> sorry dude
10:02 < mpp> hey csiadmin
10:02 < mpp> today i have som more time on my hands 4 u my friend
10:02 < csiadmin> morning mpp - hope you're good
10:02 < mpp> likewise
10:03 < mpp> cisadmin: bring me up to speed with your project
10:03 < mpp> maybe we can work something out
10:06 -!- mqueiros_ [n=mqueiros@217.70.75.151] has quit [Client Quit]
10:06 < csiadmin> mpp: very little progress I'm afraid. I booted from a t2 v7 disk, then stuck in my own build and installed (inc grub), manually copied the kernel from the v7 disk and modified grub. Still get message stage2 cannot be found. :-$
10:08 < mpp> does the cd boot fine in other computers?
10:09 < jncneo> rxr: would it be enough if i just comment line running help2man in makefile?
10:09 < rxr> maybe
10:09 < csiadmin> mpp: it boots ok in a sun box I have and it also works in vmware
10:09 < rxr> maybe you need to comment a second trying to copy the file
10:10 < jncneo> man file?
10:10 < mpp> hm...
10:10 < mpp> than it's a driver issue
10:10 < mpp> defin.
10:10 < mpp> k so we need to verify with a rescue t2 image same revision as your boot-cd
10:10 < mpp> what svn rev is you bootcd
10:11 < csiadmin> mpp: just checking...
10:11 < mpp> k
10:13 < csiadmin> mpp: my t2-trunk dir is 34146, cd is probably slightly older
10:13 < mpp> not possible
10:13 < mpp> 34146 is not commited
10:14 < mpp> http://svn.exactcode.de/ChangeLog-t2
10:14 < mpp> :-)
10:14 < rxr> the log is lagging some hours
10:14 < mpp> ah sorry
10:14 < mpp> youre right
10:15 < rxr> only regenerated (actually delta appended) every few hours
10:15 < mpp> my fault
10:15 < csiadmin> mpp: you had me there for a sec :-)
10:16 < mpp> sorry dude
10:16 < mpp> :-)
10:16 < mpp> k so . do u consider building your own target for an installer
10:16 < mpp> cause that would save us all some time
10:17 < rxr> http://rene.rebe.name/2009-09-04/first-gen-aluminum-iphone-looked-gorgeous/
10:17 < csiadmin> mpp: do you mean have I specified my own target for the build?
10:17 < rxr> had too google the spelling of gorgeous, brings up some nice pictures, too:
10:17 < mpp> yep
10:17 < rxr> http://images.google.com/images?client=safari&rls=en&q=gorgeous&oe=UTF-8&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi
10:17 < mpp> cause i have one up and running for some time now
10:17 < mpp> 2 year approx.
10:17 < mpp> i modified the rescue target
10:17 < csiadmin> mpp: yeah I've created my own, just a copy of generic with the extra packages I needed
10:18 < mpp> k so.... ?
10:18 < jncneo> rxr: as i understood, when i'm running Build-Target it every time unpacks package from archive, right?
10:19 < mpp> jncneo: i think so
10:19 < CIA-69> rene * r34147 /trunk/package/archiver/tnef/tnef.desc: * updated tnef (1.4.5 -> 1.4.6)
10:19 < rxr> only the final image creation
10:19 < csiadmin> mpp: this is the one that's not booting - how do I create the rescue image
10:19 < jncneo> in that case how can i modify makefile?
10:19 < rxr> jncneo: I would need to look too, I do not know any Makefile completely memorized in my head, sorry
10:20 < csiadmin> mpp: I could boot ok from the rescue cd I got from you a few days back
10:20 < jncneo> rxr: I just couldn't find it...
10:22 < rxr> mayve it is implicit? my specifing the destinations and haveing a generic rule to match and copy them ?
10:22 < rxr> (just guessing, I did not review that particularly file)
10:23 < jncneo> hmm... ok i'll check
10:23 < mpp> than why not modify a rescue target to have a custom installer based on it
10:23 < mpp> ?
10:23 < mpp> it's very simple
10:24 < mpp> i can even pass you my own target for what it's worth
10:24 < jncneo> anyway i should have a look incide of archive?
10:24 < rxr> definetly
10:25 < jncneo> custom installer?
10:26 < csiadmin> mpp: this sounds good, how I go about it?
10:26 < mpp> ill up i up at dl2 temp. if rxr: agrees
10:27 < mpp> cause it's offical mirro space so i do not modify wihtout permission
10:27 < mpp> rxr: can i up a custom target to dl2 for a day or so ?
10:30 < rxr> theoretically, though our bandwidth is not amazing
10:31 < mpp> i would up only to dl2
10:32 < mpp> got plenty of bw there
10:36 < rxr> ah you, sure
10:38 < mpp> thanx
10:48 < rxr> maybe in some /unofficial/ directory
10:52 < mpp> k
10:52 < mpp> i'll have to tidy up the target first
