14:37 < rxr> michael-i: hi
14:37 < michael-i> hello, rxr
14:39 < rxr> why did you try to update the blackfin toolchain?
14:39 < rxr> just in case ?
14:39 < rxr> or for a specific reason ?
14:39 < michael-i> because it's quite old and I wanted to learn how to do that
14:40 < michael-i> they have a new release out and I tried to get it put in...no luck
14:40 < rxr> ah
14:40 < rxr> I'm mostly there yet, with asterisk, not the toolchain, just that asterisk would need the daemon() libc function which the uclibc does not yet ship yet, ...
14:40 < rxr> so I think about updating the toolchain, now, likewise
14:45 < michael-i> with a couple thousand revisions, there has to be some improvements included
14:45 < rxr> yeah :-)
14:47 < michael-i> right now i'm having fun compiling linux26 for x86...it fails when looking for different binaries like disktype and pdksh. After it compiles I'll put it in my target and start eliminating modules
14:49 < michael-i> Oh and I finally get how to have 3rd party modules compiled while the source is around. Thanks for the postlinux tip!
14:49 < rxr> michael-i: yeah - we use pdksh and disktype for the "our inteligent initrd"
14:51 < michael-i> rxr: we're leaving things identical as in-tree, only when something takes a ton of space for little benefit are we reworking it
14:51 < rxr> sounds good :-)
15:00 < michael-i> ....can I get around using embutils? Seems like it doesn't work when not compiled against dietlibc?
15:03 < rxr> yeah - that's all part of our "inteligent initrd" setup
15:03 < rxr> if you want to go standard t2 you need to include dietlibc and embutils for x86 (or other full blown silicon)
15:07 < michael-i> hmm...ok, I'm probably not going to be able to afford that much extra stuff. Thanks for letting me know.I want to get x86 running with glibc and then port it also to use the uclibc base
15:07 < rxr> actually all that is quite tiny, which is why we put that into the initrd
15:07 < rxr> and you do not need to keep that in your target image, it's then just in the intird
15:08 < michael-i> the problem is...the entire system runs from initrd
15:08 < rxr> ah :-) ok

16:21 < CIA-41> rene * r32604 /trunk/package/base/uclibc/ (patches/bison-30-warn_redefined.patch uclibc.desc): * updated uclibc (0.9.30 -> 0.9.30.1)
16:53 < michael-i> off for some food
16:53 < michael-i> bye bye

17:22 < rxr> ok - I just see daemon is never available in uclibc on MMU-less architectures ...
