10:59 < mtr> moin
11:08 < mpp> moin
11:18 < rxr> koan: ppc64 vm is nearly working in Qemu
11:19 < rxr> koan: not sure of much if missing to load a linux ppc64 kernel in qemu
11:19 < rxr> maybe it already works with some quirks or there is not much left
11:19 < mpp> moin rxr moin koan
11:22 < koan> good morning all
11:23 < koan> rxr: is this with the standard qemu in t2?
11:26 < rxr> I would rather try SVN
11:26 < rxr> also if you want to run the ppc64 VM on ppc64 you need definetly qemu trunk
11:26 < rxr> moin mpp
11:27 < rxr> but as I said I'm not sure how complete emulation is for booting a whole linux kernel
11:28 < CIA-24> rene * r31652 /trunk/package/xorg/libdrm/libdrm.desc: * updated libdrm (2.4.1 -> 2.4.3)
11:28 < CIA-24> rene * r31653 /trunk/package/gnustep/gorm/gorm.desc: * updated gorm (1.2.6 -> 1.2.8)
11:28 < CIA-24> rene * r31654 /trunk/package/gnustep/gnustep-gui/gnustep-gui.desc: * updated gnustep-gui (0.14.0 -> 0.16.0)
11:28 < CIA-24> rene * r31655 /trunk/package/develop/libev/libev.desc: * updated libev (3.49 -> 3.51)
11:28 < koan> well, maybe I'll try
11:29 < CIA-24> rene * r31656 /trunk/package/mail/dovecot/dovecot.desc: * updated dovecot/sieve (1.1.5 -> 1.1.6)
11:31 < mpp> hey rxr - there are a number of packages wich were not notified from autoupdate
11:32 < mpp> monotone git lzma - namely
11:32 < CIA-24> rene * r31657 /trunk/package/base/hdparm/ (cross-no-strip.patch hdparm.desc): * updated hdparm (9.3 -> 9.6)
11:33 < koan> I also noticed gnu tar had a minor update (1.21) a couple of days ago, but T2 stil has 1.20, I don't know if you monitor it for new updates?
11:36 < rxr> koan: yes, I monitor freshmeat and we have a nightly automatic T2 based tracker that crawls the Downlaod tags and tries to find new versions based on the file names and embedded numbers
11:36 < rxr> updates patches always welcome
11:36 < mpp> k ill send them in
11:37 < rxr> though for git an monotone they are alrady scheduled
11:37 < rxr> (saw them on freshmeat.net)
11:37 < rxr> btw. the nightly tracker only checks 1/7 every night, so round robin every week
11:38 < mpp> k that explains
11:38 < CIA-24> rene * r31658 /trunk/package/x11/xscreensaver/xscreensaver.desc: * updated xscreensaver (5.07 -> 5.08)
11:38 < koan> rxr: can we see somewhere which updates were found by the nightly tracker? that would be interesting to check if I have found an update and would want to know if you already found it
11:39 < rxr> koan: yes, on the t2-updates mailing list
11:39 < rxr> I hope it is listed on the t2 contact HTML page ?
11:39 < koan> ah ok, I'm only subscribed to the normal t2 mailing list
11:39 < rxr> mpp: we mostly only check 1/7 to avoid annoying upstream authors
11:40 < koan> I'll subscribe to the updates list too
11:40 < rxr> one already complained a year ago we would cause "server load" :-)
11:41 < rxr> guess we can give out 2 new svn write access accounts soon and have you booth directly commit your changes, new packages & updates directly :-)
11:41 < koan> :-)
11:41 < CIA-24> rene * r31659 /trunk/package/archiver/lzma/lzma.desc: * updated lzma (4.32.4 -> 4.32.7)
11:41 < mpp> :-)
11:42 < mpp> lot's of stuff in my local repo to upstream
11:42 < CIA-24> rene * r31660 /trunk/package/security/strongswan/strongswan.desc: * updated strongswan (4.2.9 -> 4.2.10)
11:42 < mpp> but i try to avoid overloading the devs
11:44 < rxr> http://t2-project.org/developer/svn-commit-tutorial.html
11:44 < rxr> http://t2-project.org/developer/svn-access.html
11:45 < mpp> :-) point taken rxr !
11:47 < CIA-24> rene * r31661 /trunk/package/develop/monotone/monotone.desc: * updated monotone (0.41 -> 0.42)
11:47 < CIA-24> rene * r31662 /trunk/package/xorg/xf86-input-joystick/xf86-input-joystick.desc: * updated xf86-input-joystick (1.3.3 -> 1.4.0)
11:47 < mpp> question is :
11:47 < mpp> with all those changes / patches / fixes i have they need to be reviewed by others
11:47 < mpp> or there has to be another branch for testing
11:48 < mpp> t2-trunk allthough bleeding edge is fairly stable
11:48 < mpp> so no messing with that from my side
11:48 < CIA-24> rene * r31663 /trunk/package/archiver/libarchive/libarchive.desc: * updated libarchive (2.5.5 -> 2.6.0)
11:48 < CIA-24> rene * r31664 /trunk/package/graphic/ufraw/ufraw.desc: * updated ufraw (0.13 -> 0.15)
11:50 < CIA-24> rene * r31665 /trunk/package/mail/msmtp/msmtp.desc: * updated msmtp (1.4.16 -> 1.4.17)
11:50 < rxr> mpp: as you prefer, though you could commit tested updates directly if you lik
11:50 < rxr> e
11:50 < mpp> agreed
11:51 < mpp> i also have some delecate findings on the t2 build procedure
11:51 < mpp> there are already few packages wich would cause major reordering of build priorities due to deps
11:52 < mpp> on other pkgs
11:52 < mpp> e.g. alsa-utils need to be moved beyond xmlto build prior .
11:53 < mpp> a simple example but i have just started digging some wired dependency stuff
11:53 < mpp> allthoug packages build sane the don't run - recompiling on the live system makes them work again
11:54 < mpp> so there are lot's of messy pkgs wich t2 cannot preempt in the chrooted phase
11:54 < mpp> :-(
11:54 < mpp> esp the x gui stuff
12:07 < mpp> grabbing some lunch bbl
13:01 < mpp> re
13:07 < koan> OOo is "profoundly sick": http://developers.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08%2F12%2F28%2F0124230
13:11 < mpp> it is -
13:11 < mpp> try building it from scratch and you'll know :-)
13:11 < koan> I can imagine :-)
13:12 < koan> it's an interesting blog entry by Michael Meeks, with graphs of the contributions
13:12 < mpp> same goes for various other projects
13:12 < mpp> yea i read it like yesterday
13:12 < mpp> amusing
13:13 < mpp> ccc streams made the time enjoyable on the we
13:15 < mpp> there were some good presentations / talks
13:15 < mpp> the tcp vuln disc was fun ...
13:16 < mpp> once again reminds us of the crappy but still active legacy of the old days / code
13:16 < koan> :-)
13:17 < mpp> i mean every average skilled man/woman can conclude on how to use these vuln to k.o. big parts of the net
13:17 < mpp> so whats the biggi ?
13:17 < mpp> none - people are lazy and blinded by the experts
13:17 < koan> indeed
13:17 < mpp> it's our own blame we have to take
13:18 < mpp> and ipv6 will increase the nightmare by magnitudes - that's for sure
