09:43 < noclouds> hi, gurus
09:44 < noclouds> how can i use external toolchain in t2?
09:44 < rxr> we have no special support for this, so you are more or less on your own to tweak the scripts to use it
09:44 < rxr> but why would you want this in the first place given that t2 can bootstrap all GCC combinations on it's own ?
10:23 < noclouds> because i want to try to build the system utilize the toolchain supplied by the cpu vendor
10:24 < noclouds> any tips for easy tweak the script to use external toolchain?
10:43 < rxr> ouhm - I'm a bit busy right now
10:43 < rxr> which cpu vendors' toolchain is it btw.=
10:44 < rxr> and you (or your company) can also always contract http://exactcode.de/ if you need an urgent dedicated time slot for such stuff

17:33 < michael-i> more blackfin troubles... I really hate to be a bother here without providing useful patches
17:36 < michael-i> does anyone have a confirmed working configuration I can try? I want to have a baseline before upgrading the blackfin toolchains being used. I've tried removing packages from the generic/00-bootstrap list but am ending up with unusable systems.
17:39 < rxr> .oO
17:39 < rxr> well - the other week you first stated I had some usual subset fully build
17:39 < rxr> i just have other stuff to really finish right now ...
17:39 < rxr> but I could start yet another trunk test build if you like
17:39 < rxr> what package subset are you interested in ?
17:40 < michael-i> no problem...I'm just a bit frustrated
17:40 < rxr> or maybe I just try the vanilly embedded example with uclibc ?
17:40 < rxr> btw. which board do you have? some stamp or custom board ß´
17:40 < rxr> ? even
17:40 < michael-i> the smaller the better...is TLX the smallest example in tree?
17:41 < rxr> TLX, hm - TLX is small indeed, tough I never used it for cross build teseting
17:41 < michael-i> i'm targeting an IP04 board which has a BF532 inside
17:41 < rxr> as example I usually use the embedded one - but it has some pre-setup that does not really suite the mmu less bfin
17:41 < michael-i> I noticed that about TLX which made me turn back to the generic build with a limited bootstrap set
17:42 < michael-i> should I copy generic and embedded to my-generic and my-embedded and start from there? With this project I'll be making a custom target which can be cross compiled to fit the target platform.
17:43 < rxr> maybe you can list some packages you'll need for your DSP board?
17:43 < rxr> and I could start a "mmu-less" minimal embedded target to have this tested in trunk
17:44 < michael-i> a good start would be to have a bootable system with busybox, dhcp-client and ssh. After that compiles correctly then I at least have a base to start testing any changes I make to the blackfin toolchain being used
17:45 < rxr> yeah
17:46 < rxr> maybe we should add a such a "classic-minimal-embedded" bootstrap example without the embedded target complexity
17:46 < michael-i> something like that, a truely minimal configuration: kernel, shell and very little more
17:47 < rxr> yeah - kernel, uclibc, busybox, dropbear
17:47 < michael-i> would be awesome! That simplifies that task for me to see what's going wrong and work on each bug as it pops up.
17:49 < michael-i> My problem is to see how each target is constructed. They seem to be laid out differently and a 'skeleton' embedded target or generic target would be very helpful
17:49 < rxr> yep - I just started the target
17:49 < rxr> how many minutes will you remain here before "feierabend" :-) ?
17:49 < koan> rxr, building targets faster than his shadow :-)
17:50 < rxr> which shadow ?
17:51 < michael-i> I have a guitar hero 4 date at 9:45... ;)
17:51 < koan> it was a joke, referring to Lucky Luke, who is shooting faster than his shadow :-)
17:51 < michael-i> Realistically I've got about another hour before the hunger pains make me go home.
18:13 < michael-i> crap...I have to go because I lent my key out today.
18:13 < michael-i> The other guy here's taking off and I need to lock-up.
18:14 < rxr> ok - cu then
18:14 < michael-i> rxr, let me know what I can do to help. I'll be back here tomorrow...this is my 'only' project at the moment.
18:15 < michael-i> bye bye
