20:37 < Ragnar|away> rxr: is package/base/linux26/2.6.10-sparc64.patch still necessary ?
20:38 < rxr> oeh
20:38 < rxr> no idea, it still applies .-))))
20:38 < Ragnar|away> yes it conflicts with vserver tho
20:39 < rxr> accidently I just rebuild my Ultra5 kernel (2.6.17.14-dist), as I just found out that one crashes with some serial port patterns, ...
20:39 < Ragnar|away> o_o oh?
20:39 < rxr> when linux26 finished I can test if it still builds without it ...
20:39 < rxr> yeah - I made a photo from the oops, some NULL dereference
20:39 < rxr> happens when I reset an embedded board ...
20:40 < Ragnar|away> ouch
20:40 < rxr> though I remeber it also happend when I tested it with some Blackfin board ...
20:40 < rxr> yeah - guess some RX/TX queue mangling ...
20:40 < rxr> so - -ENEED_LUNCH_NOW
20:40 < rxr> back later, code waiting for debugging ...
20:40 < Ragnar|away> ok
20:40 < rxr> err
20:40 < Ragnar|away> btw ... why is atop X by default?
20:40 < rxr> -ENEED_DINNER_NOW :-)
20:41 < rxr> did not conflict until now
20:41 < rxr> does it conflict with some other third party kernel patch ?
20:41 < rxr> actually that atop patch was just recently added ...
20:41 < Ragnar|away> also with vserver, probably also with grsec
20:41 < rxr> it is just to have more stats, it is not vital for atop to function
20:41 < rxr> cu then
20:41 < Ragnar|away> cya
20:42 < rxr> btw. why does it conflict, do those patch the stats similarly ?
20:43 < Ragnar|away> both patch net/socket.c

21:08 < mech422> hello - anyone awake ?
21:09 < Ragnar|away> a bit
21:09 < mech422> I had a basic question about 'swiping' some of the T2 build stuff...
21:10 < mech422> I need to do some quick installers - unpack tar files, ./configure && make etc
21:10 < mech422> does T2 have a library of 'common installation helpers' that might be useful for this ?
21:11 < Ragnar|away> you might wanna look at Build-Pkg, but using T2 for the whole task may be easier
21:11 < mech422> for instance - my 'unpack_it' function is ugly as all hell, as it looks for '.tgz' or '.bzip' or 'zip' to try and figure out how to unpack the sources
21:11 < mech422> Ragnar|away: thats an option - I don't really need all the architecture and cross compile support...
21:12 < mech422> Ragnar|away: is T2 fairly easy to create 'basic' installs with ?
21:15 < Ragnar|away> yes pretty much
21:15 < Ragnar|away> you don't have to use all the arch and cross stuff .... Emerge-Pkg lets you build a package into the running system
21:17 < Ragnar|away> so if you got a decent environment already, it may be as easy as doing a pkgsel to include your packages you want to build, and then ./scripts/Emerge-Pkg ....
21:20 < mech422> Ok...
21:20 < mech422> I'll take a look in more detail
21:20 < mech422> thanks
21:21 < Ragnar|away> you're welcome

22:29 < rxr> Ragnar|away: the slow (360MHz UltraSPARC) is still building it's kernel, I can tell tomorrow if it would build without the pach
22:29 < rxr> (well, actually I also test a cross build, ...)
