00:00 < mnemoc> it's ok
00:02 < karasz> svn diff target/mnemosyne/pkgsel/Development/devtools.ask
00:02 < karasz> it returns command prompt
00:02 < mnemoc> are you sure you did the changes on that tree?
00:03 < karasz> ok ok
00:03 < karasz> you know the parrot i am
00:03 < karasz> gues i am a goldfish too :D
00:04 < karasz> http://pastebin.com/322897
00:04 < karasz> here it is
00:04 < Veki> mnemoc: I started to build desktop target two nights ago and I found that glibs failed to build. IOn its error log is mentioned that it received SIGINIT Crtl-C and that it aborted. I do not hink that I pressed Ctrl-C, Is that enough to abort further building since many packages will fail to build without glibc, and continue simply by ./scripts/Build-Target -cfg foo
00:05 < mnemoc> the build wont continue after an error between stages 0 and 4
00:06 < Veki> hm, so you think that error was actually in stage 5 or so?
00:06 < mnemoc> using Create-ErrList -cfg $foo -remove $pkg you can reschedule failed packages
00:06 < mnemoc> i guess you Ctrl-C on 5-glibc
00:07 < Veki> hm I was not in town at all..., it is tsragne that it is written Crtl-C, maybe occassional spelling mistake
00:07 < Veki> OK, if I continue by ./scripts/BUild-Target -cfg foo what will happen. I need that since as you know I am writing detailed manual with troubleshooting
00:08 < mnemoc> :)
00:10 < Veki> I think that scripts should have detailed description, since obviously, they are powerful, and it is pitty if users will not have all their power at their fingertips
00:10 < Veki> I will do my best to provide them with hints how to use scripts. Maybe, iwill be annoying to you and someone else in asking questions, but this may be helpful for us and users
00:10 < Veki> :)
00:11 < mnemoc> ask whatever you need
00:11 < Veki> ok, thanks :)
00:12 < Veki> I started build process again and it goes well so far. I will report on any failures that I do now know to solve or understand
00:12 < Veki> if there will be anything confusing I will let you know
00:13 < Veki> I have to wake up early in the morning so I have to go now, cu tomorrow
00:13 < Veki> :)

00:15 < mnemoc> karasz: send the patches to the ML, with name, email and short description :)
00:16 < karasz> i was afraid you will say that...
00:17 < mnemoc> :)
00:22 < karasz> done
00:22 < keinek> hi i back
00:22 < keinek> :)
00:22 < mnemoc> hi pr0n-master
00:22 < karasz> how about that config file?
00:22 < karasz> hi keinek
00:23 < mnemoc> karasz: remove kdelibs, create the dir by hand and Build-Target
00:23 < mnemoc> i have to go
00:25 < _Ragnar_> question: why do we still run with zlib 1.2.2 ?
00:25 < _Ragnar_> when it has some security bugs which are fixed in 1.2.3 ?
00:26 < karasz> ok but who should be the owner?
00:27 < karasz> or i make it worls writable?
00:28 < karasz> mnemoc: i canot make dir because it says file exists...
00:33 < _Ragnar_> uhm ;p
00:33 < _Ragnar_> -> Building tools.cross/wrapper/cmd_wrapper.

01:01 < karasz> my guess is that someone creates the file config there and th ebuild process cannot create the directory config...
01:01 < karasz> any info is well accepted...
01:02 < karasz> anyone still up ?
01:04 < _Ragnar_> hi
01:04 < _Ragnar_> still the kde problem?
01:05 < karasz> hi yep
01:05 < karasz> still the kde...
01:08 < _Ragnar_> hmmm
01:08 < _Ragnar_> what did you do in between?
01:09 < karasz> i created the config directory by hand, renaming the file confog to config.old
01:09 < karasz> now kdelibs built
01:09 < karasz> i guess is ok now
01:09 < karasz> but anyway the problem should be solved...
01:10 < karasz> who knows who needs that config file and will not find it because i renamed it....
01:10 < karasz> i will isuue a trac
01:10 < karasz> what do you think _Ragnar_ ?
01:17 < karasz> added trac

01:36 < mnemoc> _Ragnar_: jsaw commited a hack for that two hours ago
01:37 < _Ragnar_> mnemoc: yea I updated to 3.0
01:37 < _Ragnar_> now it work
01:37 < _Ragnar_> works*
01:37 < _Ragnar_> that needs to get into the system check tho
01:37 < mnemoc> _Ragnar_: jsaw did it

01:38 < mnemoc> the fix
01:38 < mnemoc> i did the bug
01:38 < mnemoc> r10742
01:38 < _Ragnar_> oooh O_O
01:39 < mnemoc> if base=2 use this, else use mine
01:44 < _Ragnar_> I already updated to 3.0
01:44 < _Ragnar_> btw any idea why subversion in its make swig_pl wouldn't pick up the perl header files?
01:46 < mnemoc> no idea

03:52 < Shingo--> hi
03:53 < Shingo--> I have a question. how to control the packages will be build?
03:54 < _Ragnar_> in the Config, you can select custom package selection
03:55 < _Ragnar_> and then put lines into the pkg config, like '- pam' will disable the pam package

03:59 < mnemoc> - removes, O disables
04:00 < _Ragnar_> oh yes, sorry
04:00 < mnemoc> something disabled can be enabled later, something removed will never exist
04:00 < _Ragnar_> my favorite line: '- dietlibc' :D

09:24 < mtr> moin morfoh
09:25 < mtr> morfoh: no problems so far, but a x86_64 build would be interesting ...
09:27 < morfoh> indeed that would be nice :)
09:27 < morfoh> mtr: do you have a amd64 machine there for testing ?
09:27 < mtr> morfoh: and i expect some troubles if $SDECFG_CROSSBUILD=1
09:28 < mtr> morfoh: no x86_64 here :(
09:28 < _Ragnar_> aww ok
09:28 < morfoh> _Ragnar_: moin
09:28 < _Ragnar_> did you see that the cross-build from 32 to 64 has problems, rxr?
09:28 < morfoh> _Ragnar_: rxr is in holyday :)
09:29 < _Ragnar_> oooh ok
09:29 < _Ragnar_> didn't know that
09:29 < _Ragnar_> I'll try to spend more time with _64 after defcon
09:30 < morfoh> _Ragnar_: :)
09:30 < mtr> _Ragnar_: minto had some troubles with dietlibc
09:30 < mtr> 12:29 < minto> i386/start.S: undefined reference to `_dyn_start'
09:30 < _Ragnar_> same with me
09:30 < morfoh> Ragnar / mtr minto offered some cpu cycles too
09:30 < mtr> and i got the same error if building with uclibc
09:30 < _Ragnar_> I now have '- dietlibc' in each of my Configs
09:31 < _Ragnar_> ;p
09:31 < _Ragnar_> that fails embutils and minised tho but those seem to be used on the initrd only (?)
09:31 < mtr> in trunk we heavily depend on dietlibc, due to mebutils and mkinitrd stuff ...
09:31 < morfoh> minto will be away for 4 days ... and he offered to let "noisy" machine switched on :)
09:31 < mtr> _Ragnar_: ;)
09:31 < _Ragnar_> yea I don't use initrd
09:32 < _Ragnar_> yea my bfs computer at work now is a athlon 64 ... it's easier to keep it running there where no one hears ;)
09:32 < morfoh> :)
09:34 < _Ragnar_> okay off to bed, nini
09:34 < morfoh> sleep well
09:34 < _Ragnar_> thanks ;) same to you, later on :)
09:34 < mtr> gn8, _Ragnar_
09:38 < mtr> morfoh: you have access to mintos "noisy" beast? could you give the patch a try if you have some spare time?
09:39 < morfoh> mtr: yes ... I've access to it
09:40 < morfoh> mtr: I can give it a try ... perhaps this evening. but I don't know if it will be possible because I move to a new flat this weekend
09:40 < morfoh> mtr: what should I test ... a diet embedded target ?
09:41 < morfoh> mtr: or just on a "normal" target ?
09:43 < morfoh> mtr: but I think if you've doubts regarding cross-compile the embedded target would be problematic
09:43 < mtr> morfoh: a generic minimal would be fine, the failure was in stage 1
09:43 < morfoh> mtr: ok
09:44 < mtr> morfoh: yep, embedded target would not hit it
09:44 < morfoh> mtr: and afaik there are not amd64 embedded boards yet ;)
09:45 < morfoh> mtr: just kidding :)
09:45 < mtr> :)
09:46 < morfoh> mtr: ok ... I've to proceed with my relocation work
09:46 < morfoh> mtr: but I'll stay online, anyway ;)
09:46 < mtr> if these beasts are that noisy i would embed an athlon64 into the cellar ;)
09:47 < morfoh> mtr: yes ... or at a datacenter :)
09:49 < morfoh> mtr: but anyway, I'll work on the dietlibc based stuff the next week again more often. If you see some other problems don't hesitate to drop me a note ;)
09:49 -!- Shingo-- [~shingo@mercantile.wb.com.br] has joined #t2
09:50 < mtr> morfoh: thinking about the test, a desktop target would be better, as the error occurs for pkgs that statically link to dietlibc, like udev and embutils
09:50 < mtr> morfoh: ok
09:51 < morfoh> mtr: ack ... but for the first I've to finish the small "diet firewall" and a "diet server" which can be used as a base for a "diet desktop" too
09:52 < morfoh> mtr: and with the lately introduced "nested target" stuff it should be easier to maintain all this different "flavours" ;)
09:54 < morfoh> mtr: btw, do you plan sth. like a ditelibc based desktop yet ?
09:55 < morfoh> mtr: I think this would be a hard task atm.
09:55 < morfoh> mtr: at least if you plan to do it dietlibc only :)
09:55 < mtr> morfoh: no no, no plans for this
09:55 < morfoh> mtr: so what's your goal ?
09:56 < mtr> but trunk heavily depends on dietlibc, and it did not work for me
09:57 < morfoh> mtr: ah ok ... yes improving dietlibc is mandantory for me too. I like it and I prefer it over uclibc
09:57 < mtr> embutils and minised do not link without dietlibc, and all targets with linux2x-initrd pull dietlibc in
09:57 < morfoh> ack
09:58 < mtr> udev even does not compile with dietlibc anymore
10:00 < mtr> i already wrote some patches, but the whole dietlibc dependancy is something i am not really happy with
10:01 < morfoh> mtr: why aren't you happy with the diet dependencies ?
10:02 < morfoh> mtr: ok ... the issues should be solved ... but do you see some problems with dietlibc ?
10:03 < mtr> morfoh: no, no problems with some specific libc - but it should be possible to choose ONE of those
10:04 < morfoh> mtr: ack, indeed this smart integration would be nice
10:04 < mtr> if you want to build with glibc, fine - want to use the "ugly" uclibc replacement, why not ?
10:04 < morfoh> mtr: yep
10:06 < morfoh> mtr: unfortunately the dietlibc stuff was a bit "mistreated" for some times
10:07 < morfoh> mtr: does you udev patch for dietlibc is working ?
10:08 < mtr> there was a good reason for rxr to do it this way, during work on @live, but for other targets it's not really an improvement
10:08 < morfoh> mtr: if you want I can included it in the next "test session" ;)
10:08 < mtr> udev patch replaces strnlen by strlen, which should be fine if the config files are written well ;)
10:08 < morfoh> mtr: yep, no question. I didn't wanted to say that it had no reasons ;)
10:09 < morfoh> mtr: hehe :)
10:11 < mtr> morfoh: written well == file is ascii text with limited line length
10:11 < mtr> which is true for all t2 template files

12:19 < sepp> btw hi karasz

12:19 < karasz> anyway i created a nice introduction to mr. mnemoc :D

12:32 < morfoh> you'll need it to create a bootable CD
12:34 < karasz> 320076K
12:34 < karasz> yes mr.morfoh i did create a boot target
12:35 < karasz> Creat-ISO t2mnemokde boot mnemokde
12:35 < karasz> 1 iso file of 320076K
12:35 < morfoh> karasz: with kde ?
12:36 < karasz> yes
12:36 < morfoh> hmmm ... that's looking a bit small. but anyway take a look if it installs all your needed stuff :)
12:36 < karasz> kdelibs kdebase firefox thunderbird they are all in the iso
12:36 < morfoh> ah! ok
12:37 < karasz> morfoh: i have a spare partition of 7gb on my hdd
12:37 < morfoh> but kdebase kdelibs will not "deliver" a fully functional kdedesktop anyway
12:37 < karasz> pclinuxos is using lilo :(
12:38 < karasz> hmmm what should i add to make it functional?
12:38 < morfoh> karasz: I don't know ... it depends what you want to do with it
12:39 < karasz> i have to log in in descktop, and be able to install konversation use firefox and thunderbird...
12:39 < karasz> konversation or any gui based irc client for that matter...
12:40 < morfoh> karasz: a good way could be to take a look into package/kde/ ... and figuring out what you could install additionally
12:40 < morfoh> anyway ... you can emerge them later too :)
12:40 < karasz> i will do that
12:40 < karasz> i have subversion so it couldn't be so hard... i guess
12:40 < karasz> about install
12:41 < karasz> i told you that i have a spare partition which i intend to use
12:41 < karasz> i will boot the cd
12:41 < karasz> install on spare partition
12:41 < karasz> but it seems i am stuck with lilo
12:41 < sepp> i want "a spare partition" too
12:41 < karasz> i must instruct the existing lilo
12:42 < karasz> to be able to boot t2 partition
12:42 < karasz> and i nust make sure that t2 instalation doesn't mess up the existing boot stuff
12:43 < sepp> it wont if you don't run the lilo setup in the stone menu

16:46 < karasz> it may be usefull to know that i have another err saying i do not have AGP GART compiled in kernel
16:47 < karasz> i am doomed again??

17:12 < karasz> hello mr minto
17:12 < sepp> hi minto
17:12 < karasz> did you hear the great news?
17:13 < minto> What news?
17:13 < minto> rc2?
17:13 < karasz> parrot has succesfuly built an almost usable T2 :D
17:13 < minto> Well done parrot, you're a mr too now :-)
17:14 < karasz> it is a loong way to that yet... :(
17:14 < karasz> no X for me yet :(
17:15 < karasz> no AGPGART in kernel.... ???
17:15 < karasz> is this fatal?
17:18 < karasz> hmmm....
17:18 < karasz> i will do a very not proffesional thing
17:19 < karasz> i will overwrite the xorg.conf of T2 with that from my working pclinux
17:19 < karasz> let's see what will happen
17:26 < mnemoc> moin
17:26 < karasz> moin mr mnemoc
17:26 < mnemoc> hi parrot
17:26 < karasz> :D
17:27 < mnemoc> :)
17:27 < karasz> I am almost there mr mnemoc
17:27 < mnemoc> good :)
17:27 < karasz> no X yet but other than that everything is good
17:27 < mnemoc> why not X? what did you build?
17:27 < karasz> what can you tell me abt AGPGART?
17:28 < karasz> mnemosyne with kde
17:28 < karasz> startx fails with 2 errs
17:28 < mnemoc> did you configure your X?
17:28 < karasz> 1. no AGPGART found in kernel
17:28 < karasz> yes
17:28 < karasz> automatic doesn't work neither does the first option
17:29 < sepp> hi mnemoc
17:29 < karasz> only the third way of config works
17:29 < mnemoc> what lspci said about your card?
17:29 < mnemoc> hi sepp
17:30 < karasz> Intel board
17:30 < karasz> 82815
17:31 < karasz> CGC rev 04
17:32 < karasz> but my problem is /dev/agpgart
17:32 < karasz> which dowsn't exist
17:32 < karasz> taht's why the first config option for X11 from stone failed
17:33 < karasz> is there a way to add that module in kernel or i have to re-compile?
17:36 -!- mnemoc_ [~amery@200.75.27.43] has joined #t2
17:37 < minto> Anyone a clue why quagga does not build on trunk?
17:37 < mnemoc_> what the error log say?
17:38 < minto> something with expr and sysv_nice
17:38 < minto> I am rebuilding and threw the old log away.
17:39 < karasz> uys what should I do about /dev/agpgart?
17:40 < mnemoc_> karasz: minute
17:40 < karasz> ok
17:40 < karasz> i will shut up and wait... :D
17:41 < mnemoc_> karasz: can you paste me your agpgart lspci?
17:41 < mnemoc_> kernel doesn't include any config option like that
17:41 < minto> mnemoc: Log says:
17:41 < minto> ====[pkg_sysvinit_install_init:25 (last $?=0)> expr 100 - sysv_nice
17:41 < minto> expr: non-numeric argument
17:42 < mnemoc_> minto: the .init may be badly formed
17:42 < mnemoc_> minto: not priority defined
17:42 < mnemoc_> no*
17:43 < mtr> minto: quagga lacks the .init files, seems this is copy'n'pasted from zebra ...
17:43 < mtr> re, btw
17:43 < mnemoc_> :)
17:43 < mnemoc_> mtr: who did it? :)
17:44 < minto> What is needed to fix it?
17:44 < karasz> mnemoc_ lspci does not contain agpgart
17:44 < mtr> i guess morfoh wanted to clean this up by time ...
17:44 < mnemoc_> minto: add the right init, or remove the call to install it
17:45 < mnemoc_> karasz: can you paste me your entire lspci?
17:45 < karasz> yes if you can tell me how to use ircii
17:45 < karasz> my hands are tied and i am blind
17:46 < karasz> i have on console 1 the output and on console 2 ircii
17:46 < mnemoc_> the only AGP things which our linux26 package doesn't build are: AMD_K8, NVIDIA and ATI
17:46 < karasz> and other that copy to paper and from paper i cannot think of anything else
17:47 < karasz> i will do the copy :(
17:47 < mnemoc_> i guess your module is third party
17:47 < mnemoc_> and it has not been added to T2
17:47 -!- mnemoc [~amery@200.75.27.6] has quit [Read error: 110 (Connection timed out)]
17:48 < mnemoc_> karasz: what video card does lspci say you have?
17:49 < karasz> 0000:00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corp. 82815 815 Chipset Host Bridge and Memory Controler Hub (rev 04)
17:49 < karasz> now VGA
17:50 < mnemoc_> use i810 driver on xorg config
17:51 < karasz> i use it now
17:51 < karasz> i810
17:51 < karasz> so VGA
17:51 < mnemoc_> lspci | grep -i ' vga' <-- really empty ?
17:52 < karasz> 000:00:02.0 VGA Compatibile controler : Intel Corp. 82815 CGC [Chipset Graphics Controler] (rev 04)
17:53 < mnemoc_> i810 then
17:54 < karasz> yes
17:55 < karasz> in xorg config i have i810
17:55 < karasz> but when statx i got some errors then it gives up
17:55 < karasz> first error comes from GARTInit
17:55 < karasz> Unable to open /dev/agpgart

17:56 < karasz> then I810(0) say AGP GART support is not available

17:57 < karasz> or that the agpgart kernel module is loaded
17:57 < mnemoc_> oh

18:10 < mnemoc_> no, try loading them :(

18:11 < karasz> nothing
18:11 < karasz> although
18:11 < karasz> when i load i810fb it is used by vgastate
18:11 < karasz> all the others are not used
18:13 < mnemoc_> try i810fb and fb on X
18:15 < karasz> how to unload modules?

18:17 < karasz> how to set X to use frame buffer mode?
18:19 < mnemoc_> fbdev is the X driver
18:19 < karasz> i should set it in xorg.conf?
18:20 < karasz> as video card?
18:20 < karasz> no /dev/fb0

18:39 < karasz> ok
18:39 < mnemoc_> and don't forget to set the modes
18:41 < karasz> it is complete rubish
18:41 < karasz> like a broken TV
18:41 < mnemoc_> :(
18:42 < karasz> i think i messed up the modes...
18:44 < karasz> very rapid moving horizontal lines
18:45 < karasz> what did i mess up?
18:45 < karasz> vertical frequency or horizontal?
18:46 < minto> mnemoc_: where can I find this quagga init thing?
18:46 < mnemoc_> on quagga's confdir

18:51 < morfoh> it has an init
