00:00 < Postal> ...??
00:00 < rxr> 1024x768-1280x1024
00:00 < rxr> quite large
00:00 < rxr> with my farthers LCD ;-)
00:00 < Postal> lots of room
00:01 < rxr> father even
00:01 < rxr> yeah
00:01 < rxr> initially I just wanted to use the CRT2 output to drive the LCD
00:02 < rxr> unfortunatly X as usual is too buggy and just does crazzy stuff when I config it to not drive the CRT1 (aka LCD on my iBook) and just use CRT2
00:02 < rxr> X is that crappy - my oh my ..
00:02 < rxr> every time I want to do s.th. non-standard I feel like I should better start coding my editor and the ueber windowing system ...
00:02 < jsaw> Y
00:03 < rxr> there is a Y and it does not fill my needs ...
00:03 < rxr> screen #0:
00:03 < jsaw> of course not, not enough developer mass behind it
00:03 < rxr> dimensions: 2304x1024 pixels (636x271 millimeters)
00:31 < rxr> an LCD is nice
00:31 < _Ragnar_> yes
00:31 < _Ragnar_> that sounds like a very big one
00:31 < rxr> good that I will sit in front of it in this "gust" room for the next days ;-)
00:32 < rxr> nope - not too big 1280x1024
00:32 < _Ragnar_> oh
00:32 < rxr> no idea how many inches - maybe 19 or so ...
00:32 < rxr> it's a ViewSonic s.th.
00:33 < rxr> (II) RADEON(0): Manufacturer: VSC Model: 4319 Serial#: 16843009
00:33 < rxr> ^- tells X
00:33 * _Ragnar_ just wondered about the 2304x1024 res.
00:33 < rxr> dual head
00:33 < rxr> with my iBook display
00:33 < _Ragnar_> ooh;) neat
00:33 < rxr> I only want the external connector - but X has too many bugs just driving it alone
00:33 < rxr> so I'm forced to dual head
00:34 < rxr> I placed debugging this on my TODO ...
00:34 < rxr> damn radeon driver
00:34 < _Ragnar_> dual head has its advantages, too
00:34 < rxr> how much time I already wasted debugging this crappy X code ... :-(
00:34 < _Ragnar_> :/
00:35 < rxr> sure - but on the desk I want to use the LCD - not to search windows on my iBook display ...
00:35 < _Ragnar_> *g*
00:36 < rxr> + the video ram wasted for the first head ...r
00:38 < rxr> this damn cherry keyboard my dad has, includes too many special keys ...
00:38 < rxr> quite annoying ...
00:56 < rxr> hm - manually disbling all of the quite low technology implemented translations of links one can strip down it quite a bit
00:56 < rxr> ah - no my fault
00:56 < rxr> compiled without graphics ..
00:56 < _Ragnar_> g*
00:57 < _Ragnar_> *g*
00:58 < rxr> actually it saves a few hundred kB
00:58 < rxr> I guess the rest are included fonts ...
01:00 < rxr> hm
01:00 < rxr> with this dual head config
01:00 < rxr> mplayer does not detect the correct aspect ration ...
01:00 < rxr> -n
01:05 < rxr> -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1520316 Feb 24 01:00 font_include.o
01:05 < _Ragnar_> quite a bit;)
01:18 < rxr> ok - links down to 1.4MB
01:18 < rxr> (on PowerPC)

20:07 < _Ragnar_> so ... how do I modify kernel config when I do Emerge-Pkg linux24 for example?
20:08 < rxr> ouhm
20:08 < rxr> right now onlyin the normal Config menu for the kernel - not that comfortable
20:09 < _Ragnar_> yea
20:09 < rxr> regarding the flist .a it might be my flist post procesing of static libs that does not alter the flist ...
20:09 < mipe> hey rxr
20:10 < _Ragnar_> flist has some .a files on /lib while they actually are in /usr/lib <-- didn't mnemoc commit the patch to remove those from the flist?
20:10 < mipe> btw. if i have p4 as optimization it should enable proper CONFIG_ in kernel
20:10 < mipe> ?
20:10 < mipe> and x86-64 in stage 5 :)

22:53 < lars> hi, at the moment I am installing -beta3 isos on my ibook. Because of a data corruption on the 2nd cd I was not able to install some important packages (e.g. linux*). I would be happy if a do not need to download the complete 2nd cd one more time. Is there a place were I can find the *.gem files to download?
22:54 < lars> rxr, valentin: Can I find the isos somewhere on grum (exactcode.de) to extract the *.gems?
22:55 < mnemoc> .gem-s? i doubt. maybe an rsync server, but i'm not sure
22:57 < lars> I thought, they might be somewhere on exactcode.de, where I have a local account. At least the isos I would expect somewhere there, which I could mount locally and get the gems out.
22:57 < lars> but it seems that rxr and valentin are not online at the moment?
22:58 < mnemoc> rene went to sleep half an hour ago
23:00 < lars> ok, then I will take a look around on exactcode.de by myself and if I do not find anything, I have to download the whole 2nd cd one more time, since with the current installation I am not even able to boot, and since its my only computer...
